Vatican tour - Well informed tour guide, went over and above to get us to Sistine Chapel after Vatican declared without warning ‘closing after mid day’. Interesting and easy to understand information to paintings, great for non art historians!

The guide was full of... - The tour guide was full of knowledge of the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel. There’s so much to see and admire but he took us through it at a very rushed pace that I felt we missed out on admiring the works in the museum. Our group had 3 “senior citizens” and walked quite fast and climbing the stairs was very tiring for a couple of us. I feel we missed out on seeing a lot of important works. Understandably the place was extremely crowded and busy because of the time of year and lots of people on holiday. Maybe a self guided tour would be more beneficial if one is interested in learning more about the history behind the collection of artifacts in this museum.

The tour guide was... - The tour guide was friendly and nice. You get basic information about the Vatican and get to skip the line into the museums and basilica. Our group had 20 people in it. There was nothing too special about the tour so I give it 4 stars. If you want a more detailed and private tour then maybe look into other options. The check in office before the tour started was easy to find and the check in office was quick and easy though.

Beautiful, but busy and loooong wait for Basilica access - Our guide was super knowledgeable, and manage to herd us through the insanely busy museum well. It was quite confusing getting from the meeting point and eventually getting the guide but managed it eventually. Also at the end of the tour of the museum and chapel, we had to make our own way to the Basilica, good job we hadn't booked anything else this day as we were queueing for hours. Not necessarily the fault of the organiser but this should have been communicated, we were expecting speedier access as we had pre-booked. It would have been nice to go to the dome, but this was an extra expense once we got there. I'd definitely recommend adding the Basilica access but do be prepared to wait in line for AGES to get in...it's so worth it through, it's beautiful.

Our assigned tour guide... - Our assigned tour guide at the Vatican was excellent. She was a professor and definitely knew her stuff. The problem (and why this was only 4 stars from us) was that the Sistine Chapel was unexpectedly closing in the afternoon. So that meant EVERYONE was just running through the museum to get to the chapel before the doors were closed. As a result, we were not given any time to enjoy the beautiful art pieces, nor did our guide be given the time to explain to us. Not a fault of our guide - just the situation I suppose. But be clear that the Vatican can close the Sistine Chapel at their discretion and without warning. On any other day - this particular tour arrangement would leave the visitor fairly time compressed for the museum in order to make the scheduled time for the basilica. If I were to do this again - I would book the basilica separately from the museum and book the basilica in the morning (so that way you can take time to see it) and then book the museum as a separate tour (for the afternoon). That way you won't be rushed.

Vatican was amazing, guide was … ok - The Vatican itself is overwhelming and the pace you go through it at makes it even tougher. That said she was efficient and informative and had some good stories. I am grateful for the heads up about the Holy door entrance. Frankly the only real off putting thing may not bother many people, but her explanation of the last judgement and joking that “the bad people like her would be dragged down to hell” doesn’t tend to land well with a Christian audience. WE are Christians though not Catholics and she seemed to have little knowledge of the catholic or Christian faith other than what you might find in pop culture, that is commonly believed, but simply not true. I am sure she was not intentionally trying to be insulting or flippant, but being a bit more respectful and informed regarding the faith would probably be a good idea.

Not quite the day. I had hoped for - Basilica was closed and we were notified the day before so we could not change plans. The guide was a bit over the top. So instead of reducing the price, they added another part of seeing critters, we didn’t want to do. The museum is very nice and the reason I give it three stars.

Average Tour - Guide was super polite and nice but had heavy accent to understand her English. It also felt it was a curtailed tour missing out on the Raphael room.
