Must see place to visut - Very knowledgeable guide. Must visit Herculaneum, it is so interesting. However it was all rather spoilt for us by the behaviour of the guide when we were dropped off at the end of the tour. The tour of Herculaneum itself was only 2 hours and the door to door trip was just over 4 hours. In addition the coach was over 20 minutes late picking us up from a street corner. The trip was not inexpensive and we decided it did not warrant the extra expense of tips. We were the second couple to be dropped off -. The guide got out of the coach with us -- as we walked away she shouted loudly so everyone could hear 'did you not enjoy the trip?'. 'are you not going to leave the driver a tip'. We carried on walking. We have emailed the organisers AVI travel, who have apologised and said it was unacceptable behaviour..

Exceeded my expectations - This was an excellent tour. Me and my wife went ourselves using the metro and then buying the entry tickets and using the audio guide. The scale of the site meant that the audio guide was easy to use. We really enjoyed the experience and the education of the site. It was so well preserved and really impressive. Anyone that travels to this area should definitely allow half a day to visit. Go in the morning to avoid heat in the afternoon.

Must visit - Before booking our holiday in Sorrento I must admit to never having heard of Herculaneum. Pompeii was always on the to do list but the more I read about this place it ended up on the list as well! It is a smaller site than Pompeii but in my opinion it is better preserved. It is not as insanely busy as Pompeii and thus feels a little more intimate(if thats the correct term?). I would recommend this site to anyone holidaying in this area,we caught a train from Sorrento and the site is literally down the street from the train station. To make the visit complete, catch a bus up Mount Vesuvious, you walk out of the train station almost straight on the bus!

Herculaneum - Visited under our own steam, easy walk from the train station. This is one archaeological site worth visiting! Compact and easy to walk around the ruins are so well excavated the mosaic floors are fabulous. Found it easier to navigate than Pompeii. I would recommend without hesitation

Herculaneum HD Tour - Cannot comment as l took ill with the heat and had to exit the tour. When the rest of the party returned to the coach they had praise for the tour and the courier.

Herculaneum or Pompeii - Herculaneum is one of the most well preserved ruins I have ever seen. Walking through the town, you can truly see what life looked like in 79 AD; it was as if you time traveled. You can go into a house with the original wood, floors, beds, walls, roofs, and paintings! It’s a true shame that only 25% of Herculaneum has been excavated. The only thing I regret is not spending enough time there and exploring all the buildings. I have also visited Pompeii, and if you have time to do both then do both. However, if you only have time for one tour then go to Herculaneum. It involves little to no imagination of ‘what is was’ or ‘what life was like.’ The tour: Our family doesn’t like big tour groups, but this was very pleasant. We met at the bus station and began our hour journey to the ruins. Once at the ruins, we were given an ear piece so that everyone could hear all the information clearly. The tour only covered half the ruins, which was a little disappointing. However, the building we went into had plenty of stories and information.

Herculaneum - This tour was very good, our guide Vincent was entertaining. Only one minor hiccup was that it stated limoncello tasting which did not happen. Reported it to viator who refunded a small amount for the inconvenience (£9.80). But all in all a good trip.

Smaller than Pompei - This was a very interesting tour. At first I wasn't sure about our tour guide because she kept giggling while describing Herculaneum on our bus journey to get there. However, she made the tour very inetresting while we were there.Maybe she was new to job & was a bit nervous. It's a much smaller site than Pompei so it was easier to see it all. Might be different if you are visiting Herculaneum on your own. Two hours was long enough as sun was intense so it was very hot! only thing I didn't like was being dopped off in centre of town after trip and having to walk back to hotel in baking sun & having very sore feet! We had been picked up across road from hotel should have been dropped off there too on way back!

Well-preserved archeological site - We enjoyed our tour but felt it was a bit rushed. There were several areas open to view that we did not see. Our guide was very knowledgeable and explained things well.
