Corinth Canal - The famous Corinthian Canal, also known as the Isthmus Canal, stretches 4 miles long, with walls 80 meters high and a width of 27 meters. King George began the excavations in 1886, and the project was finally completed in 1996 after many wars in Greece. Paul passed through this area because the canal’s existence dates back to 2,700 B.C., even before the excavations. The Romans used to transfer boats by rolling them on wooden tracks. A wonderful place for photos and visits.
-
The Diolkos - The ancient rollway dating back to 2,700 B.C.
-
Temple of Apollo - The Temple of Apollo, the local god of the Corinthians and the Roman god of light and music. It is the only Temple of Apollo that the sun can see from all sides, because Apollo was the god of light and music for the Greeks, Corinthians, and Romans.
-
Archaeological Museum of Corinth - One of the most famous museums in Greece, featuring many statues and all the Roman emperors, including Periander, Gallion, and many more. It houses all 265 amphoras, each with different styles, Greek keys, and more, as this was the main business of the Corinthians.
-
Acrocorinth - The castle from the 5th century B.C., standing 530 meters high, and the winter palace of Caesar. It includes the Temple of Aphrodite with the 1,000 most beautiful women of Corinth, and outside, the business of Priscilla and Aquila, the tentmakers. It is the largest castle in Europe, very well known in Roman times, with amazing views. Caesar could watch the Corinthian Canal and the boats from there.
-
Ancient Port of Kenchreai - In 51 A.D., Paul found Priscilla and Aquila there making tents. He stayed overnight there, and visitors can see the very first Christian Church. He departed from there to go to Ephesus in 16 months.
-
Ancient Corinth (Archaia Korinthos) - Ancient Corinth, the most popular village for the Corinthians and the Romans, home to the Temple of Apollo, the second most famous Temple of Apollo after the one in Delphi. The village of Ancient Corinth is 7,000 years old, and visitors can explore the Temple of Apollo, the Temple of Octavia (Caesar’s mother), the Agora, the Oracle of Corinth, the Ancient Church of Paul, the museum, and much more.
-
Apostolos Pavlos Church - The Ancient Church of Paul from 51 A.D.
-
The Diolkos - Only 2,700 years old—truly ancient. The rollway used for dragging boats from the Corinthian Sea to the Aegean Sea and back. The Diolkos, named after the special team, helped Corinth become the center of the market in Greece.
