Corinth Canal - Begin the tour with a morning pick-up from your accommodation and head towards the Peloponnese peninsula. After about an hour’s drive, arrive at the first stop, the Corinth Canal, an impressive engineering marvel stretching six and a half kilometers, linking the Aegean Sea with the Ionian Sea.

Diakopto - Approximately an hour later, reach Diakofto, a charming seaside village where you will board the renowned “Odontotos” small train, a gauge rack railway. Odontotos travels through the Vouraikos gorge and the village of Zachlorou. The train completes the 22-kilometer journey in about an hour, with a brief stop at Grand Caves (Mega Spilaion Monastery), concluding in Kalavryta where your driver will be waiting.

Kalavryta - Kalavryta is renowned for its stunning natural beauty, abundant waters, its ski resort (the second largest in Greece), and its historical significance for Greeks. On December 13, 1943, the German 117th Jäger Division executed nearly all the male population, leading to the complete destruction of Kalavryta. There is a Memorial and a Holocaust Museum in Kalavryta which can be visited if desired (Entrance Ticket: 3 euros per person).

Kastria Cave of the Lakes - Departing from Kalavryta, the next stop is the Cave of the Lakes, featuring mysterious galleries and multicolored chambers, with impressive stalactite and stalagmite formations. What makes this cave truly unique is its three different levels with lakes on each level, totaling 13.

After exploring this remarkable natural formation, proceed to Dimitsana, the final stop for the first day. Dimitsana’s stunning mountain scenery, stone houses, and its history as the center of the Greek independence movement in the early 1800s make it a captivating place to explore. It is a popular winter resort with excellent local cuisine.

Offshore Hydropower Museum - After breakfast, visit the Open-Air Water Power Museum in Dimitsana.

The Open-Air Museum focuses on the significance of hydraulic power in traditional societies. Visit the watermills, the gunpowder mill, and the workshop buildings.

Vytina - The next stop is the nearby stunning village of Vytina, the “Jewel of Menalon Mount”. Stroll through Vytina’s lively square with the stone church of Agios Trifonas, built in 1846. On the square, there are small, traditional cafes offering Greek coffee and delightful local sweets.

Kapsia Cave - Next, the driver will take you to the Stalactites of Kapsia Cave. This remarkable cave is a complex system of swallow-holes on the lush Mantineia mountain range. Multicolored stalagmites and stalactites create a unique and impressive canvas reflected on the surface of the small ponds inside the cave.

Ancient Nemea - After leaving Kapsia Caves, arrive at the Nemea archaeological site and museum. The site includes the Sanctuary of Zeus, developed at the beginning of the 6th century BC, with the establishment of the Panhellenic Nemean Games. Another notable site is the Stadium, built at the end of the 4th century B.C., where Panhellenic games were held every two years in honor of Opheltes. The Archaeological Museum of Nemea displays findings from Zeus’ sanctuary as well as from various archaeological sites in the Nemea region, spanning from the Early Neolithic to the Byzantine times.
