Kapsia Cave - Next, the journey continues to the Stalactites of Kapsia Caves.
These incredible caves form a complex system of sinkholes within the lush Mantineia mountain range.
The vibrant stalagmites and stalactites create a stunning and unique scene, beautifully mirrored in the small ponds inside the cave.
Be sure to dress warmly for your visit to the Kapsia caves.
Ancient Messini - Ancient Messene (or Messini, Greek Μεσσήνη) is a significant ancient city, notable for its size, structure, and remarkable preservation.
The site of Ancient Messene includes the ruins of a large classical city-state, established in 369 BC by the Theban General Epaminondas, who perished in the nearby Mantineia area. Following the Battle of Leuctra in 371 BC, which led to Spartan defeat, it became the capital of the independent Messenian state.
Today, visitors to this exceptionally well-preserved ancient city can admire sanctuaries, public buildings, impressive fortifications, houses, and tombs up close:
The Agora (market) – Temples of Zeus Soter and Poseidon
The Asklepieion
Arsinoe Fountain
The sanctuary of Demeter and the Dioskouroi
The great Doric temple
The Ekklesiasterion (assembly hall)
The Fortification Walls
The Laconian & Arcadian Gates
Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Ancient Olympia at 4-star or boutique hotels such as Arty Grand or Europa Hotel.
Ancient Olympia, Rio Antirio Bridge, Ancient Corinth
Archaeological Site of Olympia - After a hearty breakfast at the hotel, the tour proceeds to the UNESCO site of Ancient Olympia.
Situated in the fertile valley of the Alpheios River, Ancient Olympia was the most celebrated site of Ancient Greece. Visitors can explore both the museum and the renowned archaeological site of the ancient Olympic Games.
As you walk along the ancient paths, you will encounter the Doric Temples of Zeus and Hera, the Bouleuterion, the Prytaneion, the Stadium, the Gymnasium, the Palestra, the Workshop of Pheidias, and many more.
At the museum, you can admire, among other masterpieces, the Nike of Paionios and the breathtaking Hermes and the Infant Dionysus statue.
Rion-Antirion Bridge - The Rio-Antirrio bridge is one of the world’s longest multi-span cable-stayed bridges and the longest of the fully suspended type. It opened on 12 August 2004, just before the Athens 2004 Summer Olympics, and was used to transport the Olympic Flame.
Ancient Corinth (Archaia Korinthos) - The final stop is Ancient Corinth, featuring the magnificent Doric Temple of Apollo and the Bema, where Apostle Paul preached and wrote the First Epistle to the Corinthians.
Finally, the tour returns to Athens, where you will be dropped off at the airport or your residence.
