Arrival Day in Islamabad, Pakistan

Islamabad International Airport - Most international flights land at Islamabad International Airport in the morning. The guide will warmly welcome you at the airport and then transfer you to the hotel. The rest of the day is free for you to relax and recover from your journey. Later, once everyone has arrived, there will be a group briefing about the Thalle La Trek in Pakistan. Depending on the time available, there might be an opportunity to explore Islamabad, a city purpose-built in 1961 as the new capital of Pakistan.

Spectacular Drive to Skardu

Islamabad International Airport - Today, the journey will take you along the Karakoram Highway to Chilas, covering 461 km in an 8-9 hour drive. This route offers stunning views of the Himalayas and the Karakoram mountain range, including the breathtaking sight of Nanga Parbat, the world’s 9th highest peak at 8,126 meters. After checking into the hotel, the rest of the day can be spent visiting local bazaars, historical forts, scenic lakes, or ancient rock inscriptions, such as the 8th-century Manthal Lord Buddha Rock, which reflects the influence of Buddhist monks and pilgrims in the area before Islam.

There is an option to stop over in Chilas or continue driving to Skardu.

The drive from Chilas to Skardu takes an additional 6-7 hours.

Sightseeing in Skardu

Skardu Tour - In the morning, you will visit the remains of Kharpocho Fort, built in the early 1700s, which offers a panoramic view of the town and the Indus River. This is an ideal spot for photography, especially at sunrise or sunset, and arrangements can be made for this. Following this, a walk to a small village known as Organic Village, where all crops are grown organically, is planned. The afternoon is free for exploration, with options such as a jeep tour to Satpara Lake or a visit to the bazaar.

Skardu International Airport - After breakfast, the drive will continue down the Karakoram Highway, arriving in Chilas by late afternoon. There is an option to stay overnight in Chilas or continue driving to Islamabad. The journey from Skardu to Islamabad takes 18-20 hours.
