Once you meet your guide, assistance with your luggage will be provided, and you will be whisked away in a private vehicle directly to your hotel. Although the transfer is a brief drive, keep your camera ready to capture the city’s renowned greenery.

Fly from Islamabad to Skardu or Drive to Chilas if Weather Permits
Skardu - If the weather is favorable, enjoy one of the world’s most scenic flights into Skardu Airport, flying past Nanga Parbat and K2. Our team will meet you at the terminal and transfer you to your hotel, where you can relax and enjoy the high-altitude air of Baltistan.
️ The Adventure Backup: The Karakoram Highway
Mountain weather can be unpredictable. If the flight is canceled, we will embark on an epic road trip. Departing Islamabad, we will drive for 12 hours to Chilas.
- The Route: Travel via the Karakoram Highway (KKH) or the breathtaking Babusar Pass (over 4,000m), depending on the season.
- The Views: Transition from lush green valleys to the rugged, “moon-like” landscapes of the upper Indus River.
- The Stay: In Chilas, stay at a comfortable riverside hotel. It’s a long day, but watching the landscape shift from the window is a legendary experience.

Rest Day in Skardu or Drive from Chilas to Skardu
Skardu - Today is for acclimatization in the “Climbers’ Capital.” If you flew in, enjoy a rest day. If we drove to Chilas, today we complete the journey to Skardu.
The Road Journey (Backup)
The 8-hour drive from Chilas follows the Indus River along the dramatic Skardu Road.
- Mountain Junction: See where the Karakoram, Himalayas, and Hindu Kush ranges meet.
- Nanga Parbat: Stop at the viewpoint for a stunning look at the world’s 9th highest peak.

For those already in town, Skardu offers incredible sights:
- Kharpocho Fort: A 16th-century fortress perched on a cliff with views of the entire valley and the Indus River.

Skardu - The journey concludes as we trace our steps back from the high wilderness to the vibrant culture of Baltistan.
The Descent to Kanday
The trek from the high meadows of Nangma back down to Kanday Village takes about 3–4 hours. Going downhill allows you to appreciate the changing vegetation and the scale of the valley from a new perspective. As the granite spires recede behind you, the terraced fields and stone architecture of Kanday reappear, offering a warm welcome back to village life.
The Drive to Skardu
After a final farewell to our local porters, we board our jeeps for the drive back to Skardu.
- The Route: The road winds alongside the turquoise waters of the Shyok and Indus Rivers.
- The Landscape: Pass through small settlements and over suspension bridges, watching the rugged Karakoram terrain soften as you approach the city.
Arriving in Skardu, enjoy a hot shower and a celebratory meal, reflecting on the “mighty rocks” and memories of Nangma.
Drive to Chilas via the Karakoram Highway or Catch a Scenic Flight Back to Islamabad. The Choice is Yours!
Islamabad - The final leg of your journey depends on the weather, as mountain flights are always subject to visibility.
✈️ Option A: The Scenic Flight
If the weather is clear, take the spectacular flight from Skardu to Islamabad. This is often described as one of the most beautiful flights in the world, offering a bird’s-eye view of Nanga Parbat and the endless peaks of the Karakoram and Himalayan ranges. You’ll be back in the capital in just about an hour.
Option B: The Karakoram Highway
If the flight is canceled—a common occurrence in the mountains—we will begin the drive toward Chilas.
- The Journey: Travel along the legendary Karakoram Highway (KKH), tracing the deep gorges of the Indus River.
- The Experience: While longer, this drive is a classic adventure. Witness the junction of three great mountain ranges: the Karakoram, the Himalaya, and the Hindu Kush.
We will spend the night in a hotel in Chilas to break up the long journey back.
Relax in Islamabad or Complete the Drive from Chilas. A Final Day to Explore the Capital or Rest After the Long Journey.
Islamabad - This day is dedicated to discovering the hidden gems and iconic landmarks of Pakistan’s capital that were missed upon arrival. Islamabad is a city of greenery and modern architecture, offering a perfect end to the journey.
