Kipinas Monastery - Located in Kalarites, Tzoumerka, Kipina Monastery is one of Greece’s most remarkable monasteries. The quaint church, crafted from wood and stone and nestled within a rock, is truly awe-inspiring. Established around 1212, the monastery is accessible by a road leading to the cliff’s base, followed by a path carved into the rock and a wooden bridge.
Kalarites - “Kalarites” is renowned for its skilled tailors, builders, merchants, stone craftsmen, and silversmiths. Along with “Syrrako,” it is a traditional settlement and a popular tourist destination in the mountainous “Tzoumerka.” The area’s natural beauty is breathtaking.
Pramanta - This settlement is situated at an altitude of 840 meters, built amphitheatrically at the base of “Strogoula” mountain (2,107 meters), which is perhaps the most majestic peak in Tzoumerka. The main square is dominated by a 500-year-old plane tree and the historic “Arapis” fountain, located next to the main church of Agia Paraskevi.
Anemotrypa Cave - Discovered in 1960, the “Anemotripa” Cave in Pramanta was found through a small opening in the rocks, from which cool air flowed, leading to the exploration and discovery of the cave. Named “Anemotripa,” it is the only cave in Greece traversed by a river, allowing for natural self-purification without human intervention, making visits particularly enjoyable.
Frasta - The Plakas bridge, constructed in 1866, was once the largest single-arched bridge in the Balkans, featuring a 40-meter opening chamber, a height of 19 meters, and a 3.2-meter opening at the top. From 1881 to 1913, the bridge served as a border between Greece and Turkey.
Theodoros Papagiannis Museum of Contemporary Art - This museum is unique as it showcases works that reflect the heritage of Epirus and its history, celebrating what has brought it honor and respect among Greeks. It highlights themes such as bread, benefactors, exiles, intellectuals, Epirot craftsmen, shepherds, farmers, and the enduring Epirot mother, as well as education.
Iera Moni Panagias Tsoukas - Tradition holds that the monastery was founded in 1190 by Emperor “Isaac II Angelos,” destroyed in 1736, and renovated in 1779.
Valia Calda National Park
Metsovo - A charming mountain town known for its stunning beauty, breathtaking views, tranquility, and excellent local cuisine.
Aoos Springs Lake - This artificial lake, situated at an altitude of 1,350 meters, spans an area of 12 square kilometers and was created in 1986 for energy production. It is located between two national parks, Valia Calda and the Vikos-Aoos Geopark.
Vovousa - The village of “Vovousa” is built on both banks of the Aoos River, featuring one of “Zagori’s” most beautiful stone bridges, constructed in 1748. Vovousa flourished during the 16th and 17th centuries.

Consider the cultural life and economy that could support the largest theatre of its time. These questions may arise as you travel from Ioannina to Dodoni (22 km), one of Greece’s most important archaeological sites.
Pavlos Vrellis Museum of Greek History - The “Greek History Museum” is located outside Bizani in Ioannina. It features 150 life-sized wax models, set in authentic representations of their era, primarily depicting figures from modern Greek history in thematic sections.
Ioannina Castle - This enchanting castle is steeped in legends. A crossroads of cultures and religions, the castle was built in 528 by Emperor Iustinianus. High above, the Kale, the Acropolis, serves as a cultural park with small museums and collections. In summer, it becomes the cultural heart of the city, hosting concerts and other events.
Lake Pamvotis - The island without a name. One of Europe’s few inhabited lake islands is located in Ioannina! Known as “Island In The Lake” or “Small Ioannina Island,” it is the only inhabited island in the world without a name. It has a population of 250, mostly fishermen, and is filled with pine trees, unique stone houses, a natural port with fishing boats, and is home to seven monasteries (the third largest group after Mount Athos and Meteora).
Perama Cave - Just a short drive from Ioannina (4 km), the village of Perama is home to one of Europe’s most spectacular caves. Prepare for an unforgettable experience! The 1.5-million-year-old Perama Cave is so stunning that many visitors, in awe, believe such beauty cannot exist without human intervention. The cave features thousands of stalagmites and stalactites in various forms and formations. Nature’s originality is unmatched! The most famous stalagmite in Perama Cave is the Cross, but visitors can also see the “Statue of Liberty” and “Santa Claus.”
Vikos Aoos Geopark
Kipoi - The village of “Kipoi” was the former capital of the “Zagori” area and is one of the oldest settlements, known since 1431.
Kokkori Bridge - Constructed between the 18th and 19th centuries.
Skalopatia Vradeto - A fantastic route for visitors. The road to the village of Vradeto was built in 1970, and until then, residents used the Vradetos steps daily.
Σαρακατσάνικη Στάνη - In an area of approximately 20,000 square meters of forest with fir and pine trees, a complex of traditional houses was built to recreate the Sarakatsani lifestyle.
Konitsa Bridge - At the southwestern point of Konitsa, right at the entrance of the “Aoos” valley, stands the large Konitsa bridge, built in 1870-71 by a team of 50 craftsmen. The bridge was funded by donations from the city’s residents. Previously, a wooden bridge was constructed in 1823 at the same location but was destroyed. The current stone bridge measures 36 meters in length and 20 meters in height.
Kataraktes sto Iliohori - From the village of Iliochori, visitors can reach the Balta di Striιga waterfall.
