- Brusje - Upon entering the village, visitors will notice clusters of stone houses with roofs adorned with tiles that have been used in the Mediterranean since Roman times. The village’s architecture has retained its genuine, traditional Mediterranean charm, which is both rare and precious. A stop in this village provides an opportunity to purchase local, homemade lavender souvenirs. After exploring the village, the journey continues through lavender fields and past dry stone walls.
The tour then leads to the St. Roko chapel, offering a stunning view of Stari Grad town and the Stari Grad Plain (UNESCO).
- Velo Grablje - Approximately 5 km from Brusje is the village of Velo Grablje, established in the 14th century. The stone houses and courtyards captivate with their remarkable architecture, and as one strolls through the narrow streets, the essence of bygone eras is palpable. Today, the village is nearly deserted, with only a few permanent residents, although it was once a wealthy and thriving place, renowned for its excellent wine and olive oil production. Honey production was also notable, along with lavender oil, which was a leading product in Europe at the time.
- Malo Grablje - Just a few kilometers down the road from Velo Grablje is the village of Malo Grablje, covering less than one square mile. Starting in the 14th century, generations of inhabitants produced olive oil, wine, and lavender oil in the hills overlooking the Adriatic Sea. However, in the early 20th century, blight devastated the town’s olive trees and grapevines, prompting most residents to move south to the more modern town of Milna, where they invested their previous harvest profits in alternative industries like fishing. By the 1960s, the town was largely abandoned, and as of 2011, there were officially no recorded residents.
- Beach Milna (Hvar) - After visiting Malo Grablje, the tour arrives in Milna, which was historically used as a harbor for fishing boats and gear, but today is primarily focused on tourism.
- Tvrdava Fortica - Returning to Hvar town, the tour includes a visit to the Fortica fortress. Construction of this fort began after 1278, when Hvar came under Venetian rule. The medieval castle, along with the town walls, formed a unique defense system for the town of Hvar. By 1551, a new Renaissance fort, similar to the current one, was built on the site of the old Gothic castle. The fort suffered significant damage in 1579 due to an explosion in a gunpowder warehouse. Repairs were completed at the start of the 17th century, with new buildings and bastions added. The final structures were erected during the 18th and 19th centuries under Austrian rule, giving Fortica its present appearance. This location offers a beautiful view of Hvar harbor and the surrounding islands. Please note that the tour does not include entry into the castle, but time will be spent in the area in front of it, which offers a similar experience.
