- Temple of Karnak - Upon arrival in Luxor, the first stop will be at the Karnak Temple. This is the largest temple complex in Egypt, located on the eastern bank of the Nile. The grand pillared hall is a significant architectural feature of the temple. The complex comprises three areas enclosed by walls: the first is dedicated to Amun (ancient Egyptian Ipet-sut “place of election”), the second is the District of Month, and the third is dedicated to Mut. The oldest visible remains of the temple date back to the 12th dynasty under Sesostris. The temple complex was continuously expanded and rebuilt until the Roman Empire. Noteworthy among the ruins are the temples of Amun-Re, featuring a total of ten pylons. Visitors will also see the sacred lake, measuring 120 × 77 meters, located south of the central temple building and fed by groundwater. Admire the large pillared hall, statues, pylons, and obelisks.
