Amazing family holiday! - WOW!!! What a holiday. We’re still not quite over the post-holiday blues. We had an absolutely fantastic time at Jaz Aquaviva. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the food was excellent all day, every day, and there was always plenty of variety so we never got bored. We did eat out a couple of times during our stay—once at the Marina (Moon Restaurant) for 2 fillet steaks, tenderloin, mixed grill, sides, starters and drinks it came to £77 for a family of 4! They set fire to your steaks at the table, they will happily move the hot rock skillets for the children if you ask. We also ate at Senzo Mall (Chillies) 3 giant burgers, 4 sides, starters and 12 chicken wings, 4 refillable drinks came to around £85. Both restaurants were fab, offering a nice change of scenery and a little treat towards the end of our holiday.
The water park is brilliant. There are lifeguards at the top and bottom of every slide, and all slides require either a rubber ring or a mat, which made it feel very safe. Our children (13 and 11) were able to go off on their own without us worrying. There are plenty of bars and snack restaurants to choose from, plus a couple of small shops and a supermarket on site. You can also take the shuttle bus to the other hotels in Makadi Bay, where you’ll find more shops, hotels, and access to the beach, drinks and food are available at the beach, the drinks are free but we didnt eat down there so I couldn't tell you if you needed any money. Unfortunately, we didn’t get the chance to visit any of the à la carte restaurants as they were fully booked, which is why we chose to eat outside the hotel a couple of times.
Entertainment runs all day from 10am right through until 11pm, with lots of activities for all age groups. They go all out for the white party. With our kids being older we didn't visit the main entertainment area at night, we just sat in the pool bar listening to live singers or karaoke, the kids enjoyed using the free pool table and the arcade which is at an additional cost. The pools were heated, and the lower pool was literally like a warm bath. There are other pools around the hotel, I think we counted 8 in total.
The rooms are spacious. As a wheelchair user, I was a little worried beforehand as the hotel doesn’t offer accessible family rooms. However, we managed well overall. We had a ground-floor room and were provided with a shower chair. The only real issue was that I couldn’t access the bathroom in my wheelchair, so my husband had to help me, and the toilet being positioned behind the door made access tricky. Thankfully, I didn’t need my wheelchair every day. The beds were unbelievably comfortable—even the sofa beds, which are actually proper beds. There was loads of storage, free WiFi throughout the hotel and in the rooms (except the main restaurant, which we actually thought was a great idea as it stopped the kids going on their phones during meals).
The minibar is not free, but we simply moved the items and stored our own things inside. You do get two fresh bottles of water daily in the fridge, which are perfect for brushing teeth, using the kettle, or drinking. The mugs in the room were a normal size too, which I loved—none of those tiny hotel cups. Towels were soft and changed daily, and bedding was changed every two to three days, which was absolutely fine. Toiletries provided included shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and hand soap. The hairdryer wasn’t great, but that seems to be fairly standard in most hotels. There were plenty of plug sockets, though we did bring extension leads for convenience. There’s also a free in-room safe that you set with your own PIN.
Having a ground-floor, pool-facing room was fantastic. We left the patio door unlocked during the day, mainly so the kids didn’t lose a key card. We could see our room from where we sat by the pool, and the hotel felt incredibly safe. I never worried about leaving our bag by the pool, even with phones and tablets inside.
The pool areas are immaculate, with staff constantly cleaning throughout the day. There are three lifeguards around the main pool, and waiters regularly bring drinks to your sunbeds. Taking a Stanley cup is a great idea—they’re more than happy to fill it with alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks, and it keeps them cold much longer. There are also self-service soft drinks, water, lager, coffee, and tea at the snack bars, plus self-serve wine in the main restaurant—although the staff will often insist on serving you instead. On days when I needed my wheelchair, the waiters went above and beyond, taking my plate, serving my food, and carrying it to the table for me. I’ve honestly never stayed anywhere with staff so accommodating, friendly, and genuinely smiley.
The staff truly are amazing. They can’t do enough for you, always greet you warmly, and quickly learn your name. A small tip goes a long way, especially when you learn that many earn around £4 per hour, work 12–14 hour days, and often live on site without seeing their families for weeks. Many travel from Luxor or Cairo to work there.
We went on several excursions during our stay. We booked a Super Safari through Mad Max at the hotel, which was incredible—especially for our thrill-seeking pre-teens, we went on a jeep safari through the mountains, quad bikes, spider cars, visited Bedouin village and bought some herbal medicines, drank Bedouin tea and watched the Bedouins make fresh flat bread, we rode camels in the desert, watched a dance show and was offered dinner, which we didn’t take the offer up as we were worried about getting poorly— it didn’t look very sanitary although the food smelt and looked lovely. We also went snorkelling in the Red Sea, visited Orange Bay Island, enjoyed a banana boat ride, and took a yacht trip, again lunch and drinks provided however we did take a pack-up from the hotel, we booked through Giftun Tours on Sheraton Street.
Taxis from the hotel are a little pricey, but the cars are clean, the drivers are smart, and they arrive on time for pick-ups. We paid €40 return to the Marina and €20 return to Senzo Mall. We did try Uber once, which initially cost around £4.60 to Sheraton Road, but the driver then locked the doors and demanded more money, claiming it was because my husband wore a seatbelt! After charging us an extra £6, we realised we had no phone service and were stranded. Thankfully, a lovely man named Ahmed from Giftun Tours took us back to the hotel for 400 LE (around £5). Sheraton Road can be quite full-on with shopkeepers calling you in, but we found a smile and a simple “la shokran” worked well.
I could honestly write forever about this holiday. If you’re thinking of booking—do it. You won’t regret it.
Thank you, Jaz Aquaviva, for an incredible and unforgettable holiday. We will absolutely be returning in the future.

Attentive, clean, so much fun - We had an absolutely incredible stay at Jaz Aquaviva and honestly cannot praise this hotel and its staff highly enough.
From the moment we arrived, every single member of staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and cared for — from reception, to the waiters, the housekeeping team, the Kids Club staff and the lifeguards. The level of attention, kindness and genuine warmth shown to us as a family was outstanding.
Our housekeeping team were wonderful — every day they created the most amazing towel animals, which our boys absolutely loved. We did tip them a few dollars each day, but what really stood out was that we were treated with exactly the same warmth and care regardless of whether we tipped or not. The same was true for the waiters — sometimes we tipped, sometimes we didn’t — but the service was consistently excellent, friendly and respectful throughout our stay. It never once felt forced or transactional — just genuinely kind.
The food was great with lots of variety, and the entertainment was excellent. Some nights were lovely and relaxed, and other nights were truly out of this world — but none of it was ever disappointing.
The lifeguards deserve a special mention. They were brilliant with our children, always joking, smiling and keeping a close eye on everyone. We had one particularly scary moment when my youngest became separated from us in the water park. He is not the strongest swimmer, and I was waiting for him at the bottom of a slide but he changed his mind about going down it and went off trying to find me. I was in absolute panic — but the lifeguards were incredible. They acted immediately and had him safely back with us within about three minutes. I cannot express how grateful we were for their calm, professional and caring response.
Another moment that really showed how attentive the hotel is — I needed antibiotics due to a UTI and was preparing to travel into town to find a pharmacy. When I mentioned this at reception, they kindly told me I could simply call the pharmacy and have the medication delivered directly to the hotel. This small act of care made such a big difference and saved me a very uncomfortable journey.
The Kids Club completely exceeded our expectations. This was the one thing I felt nervous about before travelling, so we didn’t use it until the last few days — and I honestly wish we had used it from day one. The staff were absolutely fantastic, our boys loved it so much that they begged to go back every day. Knowing they were happy and safe meant we could truly relax and enjoy some much-needed downtime by the adults-only pool — where we genuinely felt treated like royalty.
We went over Halloween, and it was brilliant they did pumpkin carving with the kids and in the town there was a great street party. We went for our honeymoon and they gave us an extra Al A Carte meal which was a lovely touch.
Overall, Jaz Aquaviva is a perfect hotel for families, especially those who love to swim. It is spotlessly clean, beautifully maintained, and staffed by some of the most attentive, caring and professional people we have ever encountered.
We left feeling rested, looked after and already planning our return. Thank you to the whole team for such a wonderful, unforgettable holiday.

Outstanding Experience at the Aqua Park - We had an amazing day at the Aqua Park truly an outstanding experience from start to finish!
The service was top-notch. A special thank you to Abdelhamid for his excellent customer service—friendly, attentive, and professional throughout. All the staff were incredibly courteous, which made our visit even more enjoyable.
The rides are diverse, offering something fun for all ages..
The park is very clean, which is impressive given how busy it can get. A special mention goes to the bathrooms, which were spotless something not always easy to maintain in a water park setting.
The food was decent, but what really stood out was the excellent service at the food stations.
All in all, we highly recommend this park for a fun family holiday. We’ll definitely be back!

A solid destination for a family with tasty food and friendly staff but maybe 4/5 years old and above. - Very friendly staff, in particular Ahmed Sheeba. Always a friendly face in the main restaurant and we wanted for nothing - attentive and great with children.
Very professional manager. We had a medical emergency and the manager and on-site doctor attended quickly and gave good advice and made arrangements to go to hospital on blue lights.
Facilities could be better. The medical emergency may have been partly avoided if we had a shower/grippy bath mat as our son slipped and cut the back of his head requiring stitches, although he did run into the shower area so 50/50 responsibility is fair.
Local hospital. Should you need it, was very friendly, professional, clean and attentive. Hospital food wasn't too bad either and luckily our insurance covered such an event, which costed £2k+.
Food was tasty. Not much repetition and we were there for two weeks, always two or three things in the BBQ area and inside plenty of choice and the coffee was nice, especially the Turkish coffee.
Illness. In our second week we all (four of us) got a dodgy tummy and had to get medication from a local pharmacy. Unsure of the cause...
Water park was fun. Mainly geared towards taller people, maybe 5 years old and up. Foam party was good fun, sun loungers always available and snacks were never far away.
TUI staff were great. Very attentive and friendly, letting us use their phones to call the insurance company in the UK. We would check in with them most days and nothing was too much to ask.
Beach trips were fun. We alternated beach and pool days and the shuttle bus was regular, safe, swift and fun. Only about 15 minutes and we always got on. Food at the beach was included but was basic - pizzas were better than the burgers but beer was always cold. Again, sun beds always available and staff would rearrange them if you had a particular parasol in mind. Boccia game seemed to be dominated by pensioners from Europe in Speedos and the like so we steered clear of that. Beach was clean and water was clear with small fish coming up close.
Evening entertainment. There was an inflatable/bouncy castle area next to the kids disco which was extortionate, I think £5/hour, considering a child will want to go on it every day for a whole two week stay. Kid's disco was always running but was quite late, about 8.30 from memory. We went during a local holiday and for a few nights there were kids flying about on their scooters crashing into things and people, sometimes even breaking brickwork and plant pots. We complained but it seemed the staff were unable to put their foot down as they didn't want to upset the locals that stay for a few nights (with their unruly kids).
Evening drinks. Enjoyable and plenty to try during our stay, waiting staff were engaging and happy to make suggestions.
Excursion to the red sea. We did the glass-bottomed boat tour. We adults enjoyed the extra-long coral reef but kids (3 and 1) got restless and borderline dangerous as there was very little to do onboard for the hour or two we were on board.
