Journey from Hurghada to Luxor and Luxor Day Tour
Hurghada - Guests will be picked up from their hotel in Hurghada and then travel to Luxor, arriving in approximately 4 hours.
Valley of the Kings - Upon reaching Luxor, the memorable day begins with a drive to the west bank to explore the Valley of the Kings, where New Kingdom pharaohs carved their tombs into the mountains to conceal their treasures and safeguard their mummies.
Howard Carter House - Next, visit the domed mud-brick house where Howard Carter resided during his search for Tutankhamun’s tomb. Surrounded by a garden on a barren slope above the road from Deir Al Bahari to the Valley of the Kings, the house has been restored and adorned with excavation pictures and tools. A precise replica of Tutankhamun’s burial chamber has been constructed at the garden’s edge, along with an exhibition about the tomb’s discovery.
Temple of Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari - Then, proceed to the mortuary temple of the renowned Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el Bahari to discover her magnificent temple and intriguing story with her nephew.
Art Valley Alabaster Factory - Afterwards, visit the alabaster factory where artisans still bring stones from the quarry and craft them into various handmade items, reminiscent of ancient Egyptian techniques.
Tombs of the Nobles - Luxor - Next, explore the Valley of the Nobles, a collection of tombs belonging to nobles in Luxor, such as Ramose, Senniffer, Menna, and over 400 Theban nobles. These tombs, marked by numbers, feature beautifully carved scenes and are nestled in the foothills opposite the Ramesseum.
Ramesseum (Mortuary Temple of Ramses II) - Continue to the Ramesseum Temple, considered the memorial (or mortuary) temple of Pharaoh Ramses II. Located in the Theban Necropolis in Upper Egypt, on the west bank of the Nile River, across from modern Luxor, the design of Ramesses’s mortuary temple follows the standard canons of New Kingdom temple architecture.
Valley of the Queens - Visit the Valley of the Queens, where the wives and sons of pharaohs were interred. Known in ancient times as Ta-Set-Neferu, meaning ‘the place of beauty,’ it contains over 90 known tombs, typically consisting of an entrance passage, a few short halls, and a sarcophagus chamber. Guests will visit three tombs of queens and their sons, such as the tombs of Amun-Khepshef, Khaem-Waset, and Queen Tyti, wife of King Ramses III. The most notable is the tomb of Nefertari, the favored queen of Ramses II.
Habiba Hand Weaving - Then, proceed to Habiba for hand weaving, specializing in hand-woven scarves made from Egyptian cotton, linen, and wool. Local hand weavers also sell machine-made scarves and shawls in cotton and cotton blends. Situated in a rural setting on Luxor’s west bank with views of the nobles’ tombs, women continue to craft handmade cloth from pure cotton, offering an experience of traditional hand-weaving techniques.
Colossi of Memnon - Conclude the west bank tour with a photo stop in front of the colossal statues of Memnon.
Luxor East Bank Tour and Return to Hurghada
Temple of Karnak - The guide will pick guests up from their hotel and drive them to see the largest temple ever built, Karnak Temple, constructed over 2,000 years and covering about 63 acres. Capture stunning photos among its massive pillars and obelisks.
Luxor Museum - Next, transfer to Luxor Museum, inaugurated in 1975. This two-story building displays grave goods from the tombs of the 18th dynasty Pharaoh Tutankhamun (KV 62) and a collection of 26 New Kingdom statues found buried in the Luxor statue cache near Luxor Temple in 1989. The mummies of two pharaohs, Ahmose and Ramses I, are also on display.
Mummification Museum - Then, visit the Mummification Museum, which offers a comprehensive view of the entire mummification process through the display of various tools, objects, and equipment used in the process, along with an explanation of the ritual and religious significance. Canopic jars, elaborately decorated coffins, mummified remains, amulets, and statues of deities are among the many objects on display.
Luxor Temple - Finally, transfer to enjoy Luxor Temple on the East Bank of Luxor, where ancient Egyptian, Christian, and Islamic features are exhibited.
Hurghada - At the end of the tour, guests will drive back to Hurghada.
