This self-guided Smartphone Tour offers an enjoyable and historical exploration of Benson Park, formerly renowned as “Benson’s Wild Animal Farm,” with narration by John T. Benson, the park’s original founder. The tour is a leisurely 30-minute walk, covering approximately one mile within the park, and is available from 5 AM to 8 PM. Participants will hear fascinating stories about the exotic animals that once resided here, including Tony the Gorilla, Betsy the Elephant, lions, tigers, monkeys, bears, and more! For 60 years, the park featured daily circus shows and amusement rides, but today it showcases the stunning wildlife of New Hampshire and the new “Discovery Center at Benson Park.” Visitors can stop by the Benson Park Store for ice cream, cold drinks, snacks, or souvenirs, open Saturdays and Sundays from 12-4 PM. Public restrooms are accessible near the entrance at Gorilla House, and leashed dogs are welcome.
