Perfect way to start our stay in Shanghai — great food and amazing guide! - I did this tour on my first night in Shanghai with my mum, and it was a fantastic experience! It was a great way to start our stay in the city. Kurt was an excellent guide - very knowledgeable, friendly, and fun to talk to. The whole evening had a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere, and the other participants were also very nice. The selection of food was great, and we got to taste several traditional Shanghai and regional dishes while walking between different stops. My only small suggestion would be about the first stop - it was at a really nice restaurant with delicious food, but maybe a bit too much was ordered (or maybe I just couldn’t control myself, haha), so I ended up feeling a bit full from the beginning. Overall, a highly recommended tour for anyone who wants to discover Shanghai’s traditional food scene in a fun and friendly way!

Must do in Shanghai! - Jim did an excellent job! We learned not only about the food but as well about the culture and the city and everything with perfect english! He took care about our different nutrition forms (vegetarian / no egg). We enjoyed the tour a lot as we got to know many new places and food.

A fantastic tour with Jade - This was a really good tour with Jade, to get a real mix of local dishes and food options 1. This first stop included steamed pork buns including the typical steamed soup bun. Absolutely delicious and definitely one of my favourites. Very clean but lots of flavour. Yum! 2. After a wander (there is a fair amount of walking - much appreciated with all the food!), our next stop included fried buns and beef in broth. These were also very delicious! 3. Another stroll through a park - all our walks were through interesting local areas - saw us arrive at a fruit shop where we sampled some delicious pomelo, the largest of grapes, local pear, dragons eyeballs and freshly squeezed pomegranate juice. This halfway fresh fruit stop was a welcome pallet cleanser. 4. Our next stop was for a typical Shanghainese street snack - an egg pancake sprinkled with various things designed to eat on the go. 5. A stroll through another park into the French quarter led us to a noodle bar. Again Jade was explaining each time what the food was and any special instructions for eating. Here, we had 4 different toppings to go the noodles - including the eel delicacy - and a fried pork snitzel. I was very full by this stage! 6. Our sixth and final stop was at a tea shop where we were able to sample various different flavours of tea. This was a great end to the tour. It was a fun thing to do and Jade was happy to answer any question. There is a lot of pork so be aware of this if it is an issue.

Outstanding Food Experience in Shanghai - This food tour was outstanding! The communication from end to end was excellent. Our tour guide, Jim, went above and beyond to accommodate us when our taxi was delayed in gridlock Shanghai morning traffic. He was able to meet us in an alternate location and continue the tour from there. His communication throughout the tour was excellent, and he took the time to get to know our group members, as well as explain important local customs, food preferences and the evolving socioeconomic and political climate in Shanghai. His close relationship with longtime local food shops was very apparent, and his sequence of presentation of the different foods was perfect. We began with authentic breakfast dumplings and ended with a very traditional tea presentation. Overall: very enjoyable, outstanding value, and we would recommend this tour to anyone wanting take in an authentic food tour while visiting Shanghai.

Great tour- totally recommend - Loved this three-hour food tour! We got to try all kinds of local dishes – noodles, dumplings, fruit, tea, sweets – everything was super tasty. The small group of just five people made it really cozy and fun. The places we visited felt super authentic, no touristy spots at all. Jade was the perfect guide – friendly, funny, and full of great info. Thanks for such a great experience! Totally recommend!
