Adrenaline and fun - In the family with daughters over 18 we really enjoyed both descent with board on the dunes and with very new and reliable buggies. Zero problems with sand in both situations modulated adrenaline asking the driver...

Lots of Fun - You walk out to the desert where there are a ton of dune buggies just waiting. Your driver will then take you on an exhilarating ride through the dunes. That's followed by some time sandboarding down the dunes at pretty impressive speeds. Our driver even stopped so that we could watch the sunset before heading back. We booked with Arenas.

Fun trip - The trip with the sand buggies is breathtaking. A driver is provided in a car that has 10 people in it. We were not allowed to do the sandboarding upright for safety

Both activities very strenuous - Not sure if this is the company we did this activity with. It was booked through our peru hop guide. They take you in the buggy out to where you sandboard. We were allowed to go down a total of 6 dunes. Walking up, in the loose sand was pretty hard. Neither of these activities are advised if you have any back, neck or cardiac issues. The buggy rides are super rough, bouncing you all over the place. We met tourists whose tour co cancelled their buggy ride because someone died during 1 of these rides in 2018 at huacachina. Sunset was beautiful to see. Only 15$/50 soles per person.

Nauris - Disappointed... Driver arrived late, I asked him about professional gear to rent out but he said it's to lait for that, I thought ok Fu*k it I'll use the one he provides then , Turns out the ones he had was just a wood planc with straps to hold on and you are not allowed to stand on it ( lying down on your stomach only ) Its made me giggle and I end up sitting in the buggy car taking some cool pictures of the desert for two hours and NOT SANDBOARDING TRAVELLER- if you prebook your trip make sure you had your snowboard prerented cuz the driver/guide is not going to wait for you. For them you are just a quck $$$ to earn and after 2hr there will be other group of turist and again and again ect....

Not as expected - We booked the tour through Viator. In advance we had received an email with the address where the tour starts.. We were at the starting point 30 minutes before that. The tour started with a 30 min delay (we were assured that we should have no concerns, the tour will still go 2h. This was not the case, after 90min it was over...). I had a seat in that. Buggy in the last row on the far right. I had my backpack between my legs because in the back were the "boards" for dune surfing. So the tour started and our driver Marco drove like a disturbed one. We drove 7min then came the first stop. Everyone got out and took pictures. Then we drove on after 20min stay and drove 5 min to a dune where the surfing took place. The boards were quite rocked, the hook and loop fastener of the foot fastening no longer held and so according to Marco we should surf down the dune on our stomach, sand in the face was incl. The surfing itself was fun and was fun even though I liked to try it on my feet, but thanks to equipment not possible. Surfing was very tough. Only one was allowed to surf at a time, never several at the same time and so the whole thing took about 50min..most of the time you stood around stupidly and could do nothing. Then the last trip was back to the starting point. This took another 10 minutes. So we did not even drive the buggy for 30 minutes... But the worst is now, because of my seat in the last row on the outside right I had to sit above the wheelhouse. The wheelhouse was made of metal and heated up so much that my backpack, which stood between my legs, melted. In the rucksag was my pullover that merged with the backpack. I can now throw both away. I wrote to the organizer in WhatsApp and sent him pictures of the damage. He meant why I'm only saying that now and not right yesterday. I've been him to the effect that we came back after sunset and the damage to the bottom is from the backpack. How am I supposed to see that at night?? This morning (direct morning after the tour) I noticed it because the pullover could not be taken out of the backpack, it is also clear when both parts are fused together. The organizer does not think it necessary to Enterprise here... In retrospect, I would not recommend this tour... The damage I'm stuck on is 3 figures..

Non-Existent Huacachina Tour - I booked this experience and was followed up with an email confirming my reservation and giving instructions for a meeting point. We arrived right on time, to only find out this "La Bamba Sand Buggy Experience" didn't exist at this place. The hostel said they had heard of quite a few guests looking for "La Bamba" but it simply did not exist. We ended up having to pay for another Sand Buggy and Sand Board rental through the Desert Nights Hostel. It ended up working out for us, but we discourage you from booking this one in particular.
