The journey from the cruise ship port to the harbor takes approximately 5-10 minutes. The tour lasts 3 hours, including pickup and drop-off at the cruise ship port, and offers the opportunity to spot Humpback whales, porpoises, sea otters, eagles, seals, brown bears, deer, and possibly orcas. The wildlife sightings during the tour are unpredictable. Our vessel is a 38-foot Power Cat equipped with bench seating, a heated cabin, and an aft deck for wildlife viewing. There is an onboard restroom with a marine head. A major advantage of our tour is the reduced likelihood of sea sickness, as our vessel rolls 78% less than traditional mono hulls. A great whale-watching (& other wildlife) experience! - We had a great time whale watching, and we were fortunate enough to see whales (including both a mum and baby breaching) along with a bald eagle, bears, sea lions, and otters! The crew were super friendly and did their very best to make sure we could see as much wildlife as possible.

Hoonah catch of the day - Seats are inside. There is a spot for pictures off the back. All glass so you stay warm. Whales were everywhere. Saw a breach and a few babies.

Wonderful Whale Trip - Captain Dennis and his sidekick Bill were outstanding-the boat only held 16 passengers-inside was comfy and warm - there was a small outside area to view - we saw a bear, many orcas and some seals - A small snack was provided- we would definitely return to these guys again - Fun Fun Fun

The Whales of Icy Strait - An intimate whale watching experience with a great crew. We saw lots of humpbacks and a couple bear as an added bonus. Captain and first mate were knowledgeable and fun. Could not have asked for a better whale watching experience. The two man crew was genuinely interested in us having a good time. Well worth the price. Highly recommended. The Whales

Great experience! - Great experience! Saw lots of whales, a seal, an otter and two bears. Only twelve people on our trip. Dennis, the driver, and Bill were wonderful about explaining habits of whales. The boat was comfortable.

This is a small boat,... - This is a small boat, family owned business. I think we had 8-10 passengers plus the crew members. The crew and captain went out of their way to make this a great experience. We saw lots of whales and other wildlife. The captain even let us stay out a bit past our scheduled time to watch a mama and baby whale. It was our favorite experience of our cruise. I would highly recommend and would use them again on our next trip.

Whales - The boat is a 38 footer. The captain and crew were knowledgeable. We saw bald eagles, brown bears, sea lions and humpback whales. We traveled with 5 grandchildren and they could see everything.

A fun day! - We saw a mama bear with cubs. Lots of bald eagles. The guide followed the humpback whales and we saw them bubble net feeding. Bill Cody shared a wealth of knowledge with us.

Super fun! - Great experience! Much more affordable than booking through the cruiseline and it was such a nice change from the overcrowded tours offered on ship. It was a small (and quick!) vessel run by a two-man crew that were friendly and determined to give us a great experience. The boat had heat, snacks and water. Very comfortable and fun few hours on the water. Thank you Dennis and Bill!

Whales, Bears and Eagles - Oh my!!! - We had an absolutely amazing time on this whale watching tour! We saw so many whales, along with brown bears, eagles, and seals — it felt like something out of a nature documentary.
The captain was incredibly knowledgeable, not only about where to find the whales, but also about the local area and wildlife. He made the whole experience informative, fun, and exciting from start to finish.
The tour was well organized, affordable, and truly one of the highlights of our trip. We would absolutely book with them again and highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Alaska!
