Accidental private tour!! - We got extremely lucky and accidentally got a private tour because some people cancelled last minute! Our tour guide, John, was great. He shared so much knowledge with us throughout the entire trip and was able to answer any questions we had. During the tour he kept making sure we were good and provided us with water bottles. At each stop you’re welcome to venture out and for lunch, John gave us some great suggestions. I believe the tour wasn’t too hard on the body, the guide drops you off very close to the locations and, again, you decide whether or not to venture out during the stops. During our trip Mt. Hood was covered most of the time but John made it a priority to point it out any time she poked out and also gave us some warning when we would pass by a small, hidden waterfall to get some pictures. I want to go back already!

Excellent way to explore Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood - Our trip to Multnomah Falls and Mt. Hood began early with Jay as our tour guide. While on our way to the Falls, Jay provided historical knowledge about the Portland area. As we followed the Columbia River Gorge out of Portland, he described the geology and geography of the Gorge and surrounding volcanic areas. Once we arrived at the Falls, we had a lot of time to explore the falls, hike the Laurel Trail to the top and to photograph along the way. Throughout the drive through the eastern side of the Cascade Mountains Range, we were able to stop and hike through wooded areas, streams and waterfalls and experience the vegetation and geology of the area. Lunch was on our own at Full Sail Brewery in the small town of Hood River overlooking the Columbia River Gorge, We had time to eat and walk around the town and still enjoy some local ice cream. We experienced stops along the White Riverbed and the historic Timberline Lodge. Once arriving at Mt. Hood the top third of the mountain was obstructed by clouds, but we were still able to hike up a short distance to see the breadth and scope of the mountain. Overall, this was an excellent interactive trip. We would definitely do this trip again for its value, expertise of the tour guide and opportunity to hike and explore on our own.
