Meeting point (walk distance around the old quarter) will be provided before the tour.

We walk around Hanoi Old Quarter, out of the beaten track, where we may sit on small plastic chairs and use chopsticks like local people. Unlike big cities all around the world, street food in Hanoi is not just hot dog carts and pretzel stands.

You will try around 8 - 10 most authentic dishes of Hanoi cuisine cooked by skillful chefs in local restaurants. Those families keep heritage recipes passed down through generations. The thing is most of those places are in small alleys or hidden houses, even without any signs, hard to find for tourists

The rotating menu is thoroughly chosen basing on guests’ preferences to present the variety of delicious options.

• Meat is used in many Vietnam/ese dishes, there will be restriction for strict vegetarians. There are more options if you can eat some fish, shrimp and fish sauce. Please text me for further information

• Steamed rice rolls - Vietnamese steamed rice rolls filled with a meat and mushroom mixture and served with sweet chili dipping sauce.
• Cha ca (grilled fish) - Grilled catfish stir fried with dill weed and onion leaves
• Bun rieu cua (crab noodle soup) - Fresh rice noodle served with broth cooked from fresh water crab
• Bun cha (grilled pork) - grilled pork served with fresh rice noodle and dipping sauce
• Chuoi nep nuong - Grilled banana wrapped in sticky rice marinated with coconut milk
• Xoi che - Traditional desserts from beans

This tour highlights lesser-known Vietnamese dishes beyond pho and banh mi. The meeting point, within walking distance around the Old Quarter, will be shared prior to the tour.

Participants will explore and savor food in Hanoi’s Old Quarter for 3 to 3.5 hours, venturing off the usual path. Expect to sit on small plastic chairs and use chopsticks, just like the locals. Unlike major cities worldwide, Hanoi’s street food scene is not limited to hot dog carts and pretzel stands. Guests will sample approximately 7 to 8 of the most typical and authentic Hanoi dishes, prepared by talented chefs in local eateries. Many of these spots are tucked away in small alleys, on sidewalks, or in hidden houses, often without signs, making them difficult for tourists to find.
