- Mahogany Hammock Trail - Explore the Mahogany Hammock Trail, which leads you into one of the park’s most remarkable hardwood forests.
A raised boardwalk meanders through ancient mahogany trees, some of the largest in the country. This half-mile loop is shaded and tranquil, offering the chance to see barred owls or the elusive white-crowned pigeon. Hopefully, no pythons or alligators.
There are no restrooms available, and the walk takes about twenty to thirty minutes. The boardwalk is wheelchair accessible and suitable for all ages.

Note that the park entrance fee is not included.
- Pinelands Trailhead - This marks the beginning of the short, paved Pinelands Trail. This easy 0.4-mile loop immerses visitors in one of Florida’s rarest ecosystems: the pine rocklands, featuring slash pines, palmetto bushes, and small tropical hardwood patches. The trail is wheelchair accessible and shaded.
- Pa-Hay-Okee Lookout Tower - The Pa-Hay-Okee Observation Tower, located ahead on the right, was constructed to offer visitors the same views once seen by Seminole scouts.
It includes a short boardwalk leading to an elevated platform with expansive panoramic views. While wildlife sightings are limited, it remains a worthwhile stop.
Notably, Pa-Hay-Okee translates to “Grassy Waters” in the Seminole language.
-
Nine Mile Pond Trail - Our next destination, Nine Mile Pond, is named for its approximate distance of nine miles from Flamingo.
The canoe trail is a 5.2-mile loop that winds through narrow channels, sawgrass prairies, and mangrove tunnels. It’s one of the park’s most popular paddling routes, offering experiences not accessible by road. - Guy Bradley Visitor Center (at Flamingo) - The tour concludes at the Guy Bradley Visitor Center, where you can delve into the park’s history and learn more about its features.
