We've posted this same review on TripAdvisor: We went on two trips with Adventure Airways in July 2017 and highly recommend this company. When we booked several months in advance, we indicated our desire to go to both Lake Clark and Katmai National Parks and the weather and bear activity cooperated so that we got to both parks. The first trip was with Chris who took us to Lake Clark National Park where we landed on the beach (aka Day Tour). Chris was an excellent pilot and knowledgeable guide. We saw several bears in the grassy areas and more bears clamming on the beach. The highlight was being near two cubs that were making crying noises which caused momma bear to roll over and nurse them. While they were nursing, the cubs made soft mewing sounds. Chris was very helpful to the less mobile couple that was with us and very accommodating to us who were able to manage a variety of terrain and distances. People should be advised to bring rain and cold weather gear and be able to walk in lots of different conditions. We were outfitted with thigh-high waders which were necessary for the sloppy terrain. This was an amazing trip to a wild part of Alaska where the bears share their world with us. The second trip was with Trent to Brooks River Falls in Katmai National Park. This flight was in a seaplane and took much longer, but Trent got us there before a lot of other people arrived. Trent was fun and helpful as well as being an excellent pilot. We had sufficient time to walk to the Falls area even though bear commotion on the trail and bridge delayed us for quite a bit. Although we only spent 30 minutes at the Falls, we saw a variety of bear activity. This was definitely a trip of a lifetime.
We had two float planes on this trip for six people. Both pilots were exceptional as pilots, and as guides. They went the extra mile to ensure we got to the iconic upper platform to watch the bears at Brooks Falls. The lower bridge was occupied by bears and held up the other tourists. It was a bucket list, dream come true! Exceptional day! Great job Trent and Steph.
We have a dog and with such a long trip, we were concerned about leaving her in the car for several hours. Bryce looked after her for us which helped ease our mind and focus on a terrific trip. Trent was very attentive and made valuable suggestions to help us maximize our time at Brooks Camp.
