Follow the Pipeline Track to Silver Falls (40-minute round trip), tracing the path of the water pipeline that supplies some of Hobart’s water. This is a short, easy walk, also suitable for mountain biking.

This is a level picnic area equipped with restrooms, picnic tables, gas-fired barbecues, and serves as the starting point for various walking tracks and mountain bike trails on the eastern slopes of kunanyi/Mt Wellington.
Take the Lenah Valley Track to Sphinx Rock (45-minute round trip) for stunning views of the Organ Pipes above, and Hobart and the River Derwent below. This is a short, easy walk through eucalypt forest leading to the impressive sandstone rock platform of Sphinx Rock (caution: 10-meter cliff drop).
Visit Lost Freight Cafe for hot drinks, light meals, and snacks. Open daily.
- Organ Pipes Circuit Trail - Option to disembark at The Springs or The Chalet bus stops.
The Organ Pipes Walk (3-hour round trip) is one of Tasmania’s 60 Great Short Walks. This challenging walk follows the mountain’s contour around the base of the 120-meter-high dolerite columns of the Organ Pipes to The Chalet. Rock climbers can often be seen in action. The views are spectacular.
Walk uphill on well-marked tracks from The Springs to The Chalet, or downhill from The Chalet to The Springs (1.5-hour one-way).

Take the Zig Zag Track across the plateau to a lookout (20-minute round trip), offering expansive views of Tasmania’s alpine environment. This is a short, easy walk.
Embark on a short, challenging walk downhill on the steep stepped Zig Zag Track and Pinnacle Track to The Springs (1.5-hour one-way). Enjoy great views of the Organ Pipes, Hobart, and the River Derwent below. Catch a later bus at The Springs to return to Hobart.
