The tour begins with a drive to District 3, where there will be a stop at the corner to learn about the intriguing story of Thich Quang Duc, who self-immolated in 1963 to protest the persecution of Buddhists by the South Vietnamese government.
Following this, the journey continues to one of Saigon’s most renowned street food areas, before navigating through alleys to reach the city’s largest flower market, which supplies a vast variety of flowers, primarily sourced from Sadec city in the Mekong Delta.
A stop at a local coffee shop on the corner offers the chance to savor Vietnamese coffee while observing the bustling street life. The tour proceeds to Thien Hau Temple (the Lady of the Sea), constructed by Chinese settlers in 1760 with materials imported from China. This temple is highly regarded by the residents of Chinatown (also known as District 5). The drive will pass by the ornamental fish street and Medicine Street, crossing the bridge that connects Districts 5 and 8, showcasing the contrasting views of riverside stilt houses and towering buildings.
The adventure continues on the back of a bike to explore the area once known as the poorest in Saigon, now referred to as the second Singapore. The tour then heads to a local riverside restaurant to enjoy a Vietnamese dinner in a refreshing atmosphere.
After dinner, guests will relish fresh coconut at the floating market and engage in conversations with locals who live on boats year-round. This market is a docking point for numerous boats from the Mekong Delta selling their products.
On the return to the hotel, the licensed driver will guide guests through dining alleys on a unique island encircled by the Saigon River, a settlement for immigrants from various regions of Vietnam.
The tour concludes with the English-speaking drivers bidding farewell and presenting a small souvenir gift.
