Highly recommend this tour! - Thomas was our guide, a Dutch man with perfect English, and a deep understanding of the history leading up to World War II’s worst tragedy. His sense of humor helped lighten the day when that was appropriate. In the more somber sections of our tour, he helped us understand the human impact of a bomb that eventually killed 2/3 of Hiroshima’s population. We’re history buffs and have read books and watched films on the subject, yet we still learned so much that we did not know. He grounded his tour in solid research and history. He was always able to answer more detailed questions from our six-person group. We originally planned to take a five-hour walking tour, but changed to this shorter one, and we’re SO glad we did. This one, 10:30 to 1 pm, was the perfect length for us. We covered all the key sites we wanted to visit. Thomas kept the pace comfortable, with plenty of stops in the shade. He gave us the highlights, with visual aids including maps and charts. Suitable for all ages - and we were able to go explore the museum on our own, at the end of the tour. Thomas also gave us excellent advice on the best places to eat on our own, later, including several places a short walk away. One tip: for reasons unlnown, our taxi driver didn’t understand what our destination was, so we had to find a Japanese translation of the detailed address this tour business provided. So glad they provided an exact address for him to use with his GPS. It’s the important Hiroshima Gokoku shrine on the grounds of the castle, but Hiroshima has hundreds of shrines. We got there early, and the taxi was able to drop us off right at the Torii gate.

The things that you used... - The things that you used to read in history and see through pictures, seeing the impact with your own eyes was very touching and interesting experience for me. It was a long day trip from Osaka to Hiroshima but was worth it.

Brilliant Hiroshima tour and guide - Tommy was an excellent guide, well informed and a mine of information for people like me who have so many questions. It was pouring with rain the day we did the tour but it didn’t dampen tommys enthusiasm for the subject. I learnt so much from the 2.5 hours with him. Nice small groups which made it easy to hear and absorb the information.
