  Himeji Castle was originally constructed in 1333 by Akamatsu Norimura (Enshin) on Mt. Himeji. Over the years, it was expanded by Hashiba Hideyoshi, Ikeda Terumasa, and Honda Tadamasa, who all invested their aspirations into it, completing its current form in 1617. Its silhouette, gleaming against the blue sky, resembles a white heron taking flight from the water, earning it the nickname “White Heron Castle.”
