Culloden Battlefield
• Located on Culloden Moor, near Inverness, this is the historic site of the Battle of Culloden, which took place on 16 April 1746. It was the last pitched battle on British soil.
• This battle concluded the Jacobite Rising of 1745, where Prince Charles Edward Stuart, known as “Bonnie Prince Charlie,” attempted to restore the Stuart dynasty to the throne.
• The Jacobite forces, primarily composed of Highland clansmen, confronted the government troops led by the Duke of Cumberland.

Clava Cairns - • The Clava Cairns are a collection of Bronze Age burial cairns, approximately 4,000 years old, situated near Culloden Battlefield, close to Inverness.
• The site features passage graves, ring cairns, standing stones, and kerb cairns, all arranged in a circular layout.
• Fans of the TV series Outlander will recognize Clava Cairns as the inspiration for the fictional Craigh na Dun, where Claire Randall travels back in time through the standing stones.
• Although Clava Cairns does not have a magical “split stone” like in the series, the circle of standing stones creates a similar atmosphere.
- Inverness - Arrive at Inverness city centre, where entry to Inverness Castle’s new viewing gallery is included. Enjoy panoramic views across the city. Visit Flora MacDonald’s statue outside the castle and explore the shops and cafes in Inverness. Consider trying a local beer at the Gellions, the oldest bar in Inverness, established in 1841.
Unfortunately, only photos are available until 2024 as the castle is undergoing extensive renovations.
- Beauly Priory - Depart from the village of Drumnadrochit, then return to the ship via wild terrain 1,000 feet up a mountain, descending into the village of Beauly, passing by the historic Priory.
- Robertson’s Farm Shop Beauly - Experience real-life Highland cows and alpacas at Robertson’s farm on the outskirts of Beauly.
- Urquhart Castle - Explore the ruins of Urquhart Castle and the video centre. Watch a 6-minute historical video with subtitles in your language. Stroll down to the ruins or visit the shop or cafe.
- Drumnadrochit - Pass through this charming village, stopping to visit the Nessie centre and gin shop.
- Loch Ness - Travel alongside Loch Ness for 15 miles, pausing for photos of Nessie (if you’re fortunate).
