• Loch Ness Region - The Glenfinnan tour begins in Inverness and heads south, following the shoreline of Loch Ness to our first destination, Urquhart Castle.
• Urquhart Castle - The tour departs from Inverness, traveling south along the Loch Ness shoreline to reach our initial stop, Urquhart Castle. Take a brief moment to capture photos at this iconic site, offering stunning views of Scotland’s renowned loch, and perhaps catch a glimpse of Nessie!
• Glenfinnan Viaduct - The tour continues to the highlight of the day; the Glenfinnan Viaduct.

Nestled among the mountains by the shores of Loch Shiel, the Glenfinnan Monument commemorates a pivotal event in Scottish history; the 1745 Jacobite Uprising. We spend about an hour at the Monument, providing ample time to explore the Jacobite history and capture memorable photos of the famous bridge.

This location is not only known for the Harry Potter bridge; Loch Shiel served as the ‘Black Lake’ location; see if you can spot a ‘grindylow’ causing trouble beneath the surface! It’s also where Buckbeak’s majestic flight, scenes from the Triwizard Tournament, and the picturesque loch where Hogwarts is situated were filmed.

• Mallaig - From Glenfinnan with its remarkable viaduct and monument, we travel west to Mallaig on the ‘road to the Isles’, or ‘Rathad nan Eilean’. The area, once governed by the Clan Donald, boasts some of the world’s most breathtaking scenery, with sandy beaches, dramatic hills, and unforgettable sea views, making it a must-see!

At the journey’s end, we arrive at Mallaig, a picturesque fishing port. The name Mallaig originates from the old Norse, ‘Mel Vik’, meaning a sand dune bay. Spend time here for lunch, perhaps savor some local seafood, and enjoy the coastal views.

• Fort Augustus - After Mallaig, the Harry Potter tour heads east to Loch Ness, stopping at Fort Augustus. Enjoy refreshments here, with stunning views of the loch.
• Commando Monument - Pause for photos at the Commando Memorial, located at Spean Bridge.
• The Falls of Foyers - We visit the Falls of Foyers, a magnificent waterfall flowing into Loch Ness. Be sure to bring your camera for this scenic stop!
• Dores - Our final stop of the day is at Dores Beach, the northernmost point of Loch Ness. The beach offers a fantastic viewpoint of the loch; from here, you can see all the way down Loch Ness - perfect for spotting signs of Nessie!

After Dores, we return to Inverness, concluding your 1-day Glenfinnan tour.

This one-day excursion departing from Inverness showcases some of the Highlands’ most stunning landscapes, including the breathtaking Loch Ness, before arriving at the Glenfinnan Viaduct. Take a moment here to capture photos of the famous bridge and witness the Jacobite Steam Train as it passes by on its route.

Please be aware: the Jacobite Steam Train is managed by a different company, so its operation cannot be guaranteed, nor can it be assured that the tour will coincide with its schedule. This tour does NOT include boarding the Jacobite Steam Train.

• Collapsible wheelchairs with removable wheels can be accommodated providing the passenger is accompanied by someone who can assist them board and disembark the bus.

As such, we cannot guarantee that it will be running or that your tour and the train will meet up at the same time. The morning train service runs from March 28th 2024 - October 25th 2024.
