Highlight of Helsinki! - I went with my partner and 2 friends, and we all had the best time! It has definitely been the highlight of our trip to Helsinki so far. The tour guides are so professional, friendly and welcoming, and knowledgeable. Suits were well maintained and organised. We loved it, can’t wait to try another experience with Redrib.

Fun, unique outdoor experience - If you’re looking for a unique experience in Helsinki, check out this redrib survival suit experience. It’s a fun and relaxing way to enjoy the outdoors in the winter. We were surprised how warm it stays in the suits and even got to practice jumping into the water following our guide.

Amazing experience with expert guidance. - My son decided he wanted a trip to Helsinki. I agreed to take him if he planned an itinery so we didn't end up sitting in the hotel room surfing pads and phones - you must all appreciate that!
Adopting the 'Breaking Dad' model, he came back with the 'Survival Suit Experience'. I apprehensively agreed. I booked online (direct with the RedRib website for a few Euro cheaper) after emailing them to check availability. We found a hotel within walking distance of the agreed start location and off we flew.
We turned up a few minutes before the start time and were welcomed by Oli. Oli was very knowledgeable and talked us through what we were about to do and why, explaining hypothermia and its effects in detail. RedRib have a mobile changing room and we (and the other participants) entered before being given extra layers of clothing if required and a thick pair of socks. Oil explained the process of donning the suit (no we didn't manage it in the 60 seconds you get in an emergency!) before we headed out to the harbour. Then the fun began...
Oli demonstrated how to enter the water and get used to the suit before getting back out and watching us in one at a time whilst videoing our initial reactions! We had a little float, and yes, it is very relaxing. Trust the suit. After a few minutes we learned more survival skills and linked up to form a chain - obviously the bigger and brighter the target the more likely you are to be found in the event of a real rescue.
After that, we learned how to 'stand up' wearing the suit and felt the pressure on our lower extremities. All the time, Oli was taking videos and photographs. Then the jumping in began! We climbed out and went to a different part of the dockside. Whilst everyone was a little apprehensive at first, Oli explained different ways to jump in depending on whether you wanted to go under the water or not. Once we had all jumped in, we learned how to self rescue onto a RIB. Some could do it, others (myself included) needed a little bit of help. Everyone joined in and we rescued the 'team'.
Free time was had after that - some went back to float, the more adventurous did a jump, swim and rescue cycle...
Surprisingly 90 minutes went like that - bearing in mind the suits are designed to keep you alive for 6 hours at a push - it was plenty of time.
We hopped out and Oli helped us doff the suits. Apart from one of us (who decided to jump in backwards!) we were all completely dry and were able to continue our day without getting changed.
Oil distributed the photos and videos to us for souvenirs - and yes, it is an experience I won't forget for a very long time.
Would I do it again, YES!

Incredible, unique Helsinki must do! - We had such a fun time doing the survival suit experience. Everything was provided and it was in a really handy location close to the city centre which we walked in about ten minutes. We felt safe and looked after the whole time and would definitely do it again. If you’re looking for a unique experience on your trip to Finland then this is it! 🇫🇮🙌🏻

DO NOT MISS EXPERIENCE! - This is a MUST do experience in Helsinki. From start to finnish (lol) it was fantastic!! Our guide Olly was a pleasure. So knowledgeable and fun. The float was so peaceful and relaxing one of the people in our group fell asleep! You are pretty snuggly bundled in so that you are airtight. It’s about hard to talk or smile but you adapt and it’s quite fun. Then we went on the hovercraft to our own private island for a bbq of salmon soup, rye bread, coffee and desserts. The hovercraft was smooth and just glided across the ice. Truly breathtaking views and the most memorable of experiences!
