Nosy Be - Ankarana

Ankarana Special Reserve - This national park features a vast limestone plain that was once submerged underwater and has gradually emerged due to plate tectonics. Over time, erosion has shaped the limestone into sharp formations known as the Tsingy. Visitors can explore the park through eight different trails of varying lengths. The Tsingy formations divide the park into two distinct landscapes: a dry savannah and an evergreen forest. The park is traversed by numerous gorges and rivers and boasts Africa’s largest network of interconnected underground caves, stretching 120km in total. Some caves are open to visitors, while others hold sacred significance. Both the caves and the Tsingy provide unique habitats for specialized flora and fauna, including blind fish, crabs, arachnids, and bats. The dry forest is home to eleven species of lemurs, and with careful observation, visitors can spot many of the 60 reptile species, such as the panther chameleon and leaf-tailed geckos.

Ankarana - Tsingy Rouge

Tsingy Rouge Park - Tsingy Rouge is a striking red laterite rock formation created by the erosion of the Irodo River in the Diana region. Unlike other formations, the erosion here occurs over years rather than centuries, meaning heavy rains or floods can quickly alter the landscape, destroying some parts and creating new ones. The Tsingy Rouge can be viewed from three different locations, all accessible by car.

Tsingy Rouge - The Three Bays

Antsiranana (Diego Suarez) - A narrow strip of sand with a gentle dune separates the Bay of Pigeons from the Bay of Dunes. The area is well-protected from the elements, creating a harmonious environment where sea turtles come to nest. Local authorities are mindful of this, and access is restricted during certain times of the year to protect these creatures.

Baie des Pigeons - This bay is an ideal spot for those seeking nearly deserted beaches. Also known as Baie des Pigeons, it offers a stunning view of the sea, with colors ranging from deep blue to turquoise and emerald, gently lapping against soft white sands. More sheltered than Sakalava Bay, its waters are calm, and the atmosphere is incredibly relaxing.

Amber Mountain National Park - Montagne d’Ambre National Park is a volcanic massif covered in lush montane rainforest, featuring numerous lakes, rivers, and waterfalls. Its exceptional biodiversity is due to a cooler and wetter micro-climate compared to the surrounding region. The park’s well-maintained trails lead through breathtaking forests to volcanic lakes, sacred waterfalls, and thrilling viewpoints.

Diego Suarez and Mer D’Emeraude

Mer D’Emeraude - The Emerald Sea is renowned for its stunning colors. Accessible by boat, visitors can admire the myriad shades of blue and bright green from afar. Upon reaching a paradisiacal white sand beach, shaded by trees and palm trees, guests can enjoy the scenic beauty while awaiting lunch. The view is truly breathtaking.
