Begin with the Pyramid of Giza, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, constructed by the pharaohs between 2590 BC and 2480 BC. Enjoy exploring and entering the queen’s pyramid. Discover the mysteries of the Sphinx, one of the largest monoliths in human history. Afterward, proceed to Sakkara to admire the step pyramid of King Zoser, one of Egypt’s oldest monuments. Continue to Memphis, Egypt’s first capital, where you will see the grand statue of King Ramses the Great, who ruled during the New Kingdom. Return to Cairo for an overnight stay at the hotel, Le Meridien Pyramids or a similar establishment.

In the afternoon, visit Cairo’s renowned churches, including the Church of St. George the Martyr and the Hanging Church, built into the walls of the Babylon Fortress. Also, visit the Church of Abu Serga (St. Sergius), believed to be where the Holy Family sought refuge in a cave. This site is a significant pilgrimage destination. Valley of the Kings - Begin your day with a visit to the Valley of the Kings, the necropolis of the Pharaonic New Kingdom, featuring the famous tombs of ancient Egyptian kings. Your first stop will be the Temple of Hatshepsut, known as “El Deir Al Bahry” or the Western Monastery, used as a monastery during the Christian era by Egypt’s first female ruler. Continue to the colossal Colossi of Memnon, the only remaining elements of the Temple of Amenhotep II. Return for lunch on your cruise before sailing to Edfu.
