Jason is a very patient person. He never rushes a person . He explains in detail each step. He helps you through each step. Answers any and all questions. If you take a class here , you will leave knowing how to tan a hide. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to take a hands on class, take it here.

I’ve taken about a dozen classes at NABS. Part of the reason I keep coming back is Drev’s passion for keeping these skills alive comes through in every class. I’d done a little buckskin work before, but this class was a much deeper immersion and extremely informative, both in what to do as well as the more important (in my opinion) why things are done this way, the history behind the skill. I can’t recommend the school highly enough and look forward to going back again and again.

Great Instructors - Great Learning Environment! Thank you Jason and Sera for taking care of the land and allowing your medicinal plant students and amazing opportunity to see and find such great healing plants growing naturally on your land. The addition of the teaching pavilion and solar panels was a nice addition - There is no doubt in my mind that the North American Bushcraft School will keep growing and going. Thank you and your staff for an amazing weekend. Tracey P. Harpers Ferry, WV

My children and family were so welcomed into this community. We learned a ton, met amazing people, shared in community and had a blast. Thank you to Sera and Jason for creating this and to all the amazing instructors, staff and volunteers - job well done. My daughter who is eleven said as we were driving home "I have found my tribe." I think that sums it up.

Jason and the community of folks that gather at the North American Bushcraft School are great. The classes are accessible and interesting - in one day I made a gourd bowl and a freeform basket out of kudzu vine. The kids ran around, played together nicely, and had a blast learning primitive skills. I came with friends but made new friends with folks who were kind and had interesting experiences to share. In the evenings, there was music and dancing (seriously good bands!). Things to work on: classes actually offered do not always match what's listed on the website (though there are plenty of great options, so I was satisfied); food for folks with special diets (it was available but not enticing. Lunch was the same quinoa salad I had for breakfast plus some lettuce); and the port-a-johns (they get gross quickly - how about building some composting toilets and putting cleaning into the work rotation?). These were all minor inconveniences, though - we had a great time and are looking for opportunities to go back and spend more time there.
