Morning Drive to Arba Minch

Arba Minch - Start the morning by observing the daily activities of the Sidamo people at the fresh Fish Market, where fishermen sell various fish, including Catfish, Nile Perch, and White Fish. Stroll through a small park to see the beautiful Colobus Monkey and other monkey species, along with endemic birds. It’s a fascinating spot for photography and people-watching. Continue the drive to Arba Minch.

In the afternoon, take an hour’s drive to Gughe Mountain to experience the cultural lifestyle of the Dorze people, renowned for their cotton weaving and elephant-shaped huts made from the False Banana tree. Participate in preparing the false banana dish called Kocho, and give it a taste. Enjoy a picnic lunch or dine at Dorze Lodge. In the late afternoon, unwind in the beautiful city of Arba Minch, with breathtaking views of the two lakes separated by “God’s bridge.”

Chamo Lake Boat Excursion

Chamo Lake - Explore Arba Minch and embark on a boat excursion on Chamo Lake, one of Ethiopia’s deepest lakes. Delight in watching the largest Nile crocodiles and hippos. Have lunch at a lodge in Konso village, then continue the drive to Turmi via the Arbore tribe, if road conditions permit. In the late afternoon, visit Turmi to meet the Hamer ethnic group, famous for the “bull-jumping” tradition that young men undertake to marry.

Omorate Excursion to Visit the Dassanech People

Omo National Park and River - Take an excursion to Omorate to meet the Dassanech people, known for their intricate body painting. Cross the renowned Omo River by canoe. In the afternoon, enjoy another remarkable day visiting the vibrant and colorful Karo tribe, celebrated for their body and face painting for special occasions, living along the Omo River. Return to Turmi.

Drive to Jinka via Dimeka and Explore the Local Market

Turmi - Travel to Jinka via Dimeka and explore the local market (Tuesdays and Saturdays). Visit the South Omo Museum and Research Center or hike to the Ari village in the surrounding mountains. Drive to Mago National Park to meet the Mursi ethnic tribe, known for the clay plates worn by women on their lower lips.

Return to Arba Minch from Jinka, Visiting the Konso Tribe

Arba Minch - Return to Arba Minch from Jinka, stopping to visit the Konso tribe and their cultural village, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The Konso are recognized for their totems honoring the deceased and agricultural terracing techniques. Explore their traditional collection at the small museum.

Morning Drive Back to Addis Ababa

Addis Ababa - After breakfast, drive back to Addis Ababa.
