Captain stopped to see the horses on Shackleford on our way to the Cape. Saw dolphins. Found a beautiful shell. It couldn’t have been a more perfect day!
Ferry Captain was courteous and gave some great historical and technical explanations regarding our trip.
The ride out and back was awesome. Great job. The lady working the phone was excellent. The email provided on the reservation does not appear to work.
When I first went to your website to purchase tickets, I was prompted to download a newer version of Adobe, which turned out to be fake and a bunch of spammy downloads. Other than that, the experience was fine.
Ferry service was good. My only issue with the service is the price. It's a little bit too expensive in my opinion for such a short ride, but Cape Lookout is worth it.
The only part we wouldn’t redo was taking the transportation to the other side of the island to “shell.” Once we arrived we were told we needed to find the shells by going knee to waist deep. We didn’t know that ahead so neither me nor my husband wore swim suits. Consequently my husband was soaked trying to find shells with his feet.
I absolutely love riding the ferries with you guys! Usually we have a captain who is very outgoing and gives us some details about the islands or the horses or something thing but this time our captain was very quiet and seemed like he wasn’t too interested in talking to us. The deckhand was very nice. Still had a great time and will definitely come visit again!
We had been on this tour ride before, the last time the captain was so talkative and shared so much information about what we were seeing and history. This ride he just drove
It was a beautiful day and the crew were exactly on time with each pickup.
I bought tickets online and we drove in for the reservation. We were running late so i called and tried to change the reservation to the next ferry. We had limited time on the island so we were eager to get over to the lighthouse. No one answered the phone so we tried to move our reservation when we got there and the next ferry was full. So we were an hour later leaving than we had hoped. When we arrived we tried to take the shuttle to the cape the first truck came and it was having issues so we waited about an hour to get a shuttle to the cape. It left us with an hour on the beach before we had to return. The ferry ride was smooth and the workers were courteous nice and efficient. We just were disappointed that we ended up with such a short amount of time on the island.
We enjoyed the ferry ride however we booked our reservation so we could ride with a school group. I was told there were 15 available seats when I booked our seats and there was 4 of us. To the island we had to ride on a separate ferry and then they separated us on the way back, then after they separated us they added more people so our group of 4 could have actually rode on the ferry together. My youngest son was so upset because he had to ride on the smaller boat with his grandparents instead of with my older son (with the group) and me. We should have had a seat on that ferry since we had a reservation. The ride was fine but they need to be a bit more organized if you have a reservation.
Punctual to say the least: if you are a minute late, you're gonna wait on the next boat. The staff is generally really nice though. The guys driving the shuttle are the best- both drivers were helpful, kind, and went above and beyond to make sure we made it out to the point and back safely and made sure we had fun on the ride too! Gene is awesome!
Rode on the smaller ferry. Was not what we expected.
Great service, on time, love Island Ferry!
OUTBOUND ON SMALL SKIFF NOT SO GOOD INBOUND ON CAT GREAT
We were very satisfied with the ride over and back. However when reserving the trip I would also like to be able to reserve the return time. We were happy that the captain was able to get us on an earlier trip back. Staff very friendly. Will recommend this trip to others.
The Ferry ride to Cape Lookout was pleasurable; the boat was well maintained and the crew was friendly and knowledgeable of the area and history which they shared with us. I gave it 4 stars due to the lighthouse was closed and there was no indication of the lighthouse being closed when we reserved our trip online. However we definitely enjoyed two hours of walking the island, the beach, taking pictures, and finding some beautiful sea shells.
We were told we couldn't go up in light house but wasn't told nothing was opened there. So basically paid 32.00 to walk around less than an hour
I would have given you 5 stars if I had known when booking online that you could not hike to the top of the lighthouse on Monday and Tuesday. We would have planned the ferry ride on a different day of the week if I had known when booking the reservation.
shelling on beach was excellent.
The service and accommodations were great. The cost for these services and the short run seem excessive. A wider window of operating hours would be great - early morning, late evening. The solitary feel is a valuable feature of the island and an opportunity to beat the crowds would be terrific.
I love going to the point of the Cape. The last several weeks the truck driver only drops off at one location. This is inconvenient since people may want to go to different locations. Please let the drivers drop off and pick up within 500 yds of the point. The ferry ride and captain were awesome. So was the truck driver. Mike was the captain and a different Mike was the truck driver. Thanks
For the last 4 years, Harker's Island Ferry Service has delivered and picked us up from a destination outside their normal route and been nothing but professional, courteous and friendly. I would recommend them without any reservations whatsoever.
The trip over to the Lighthouse was great - very friendly employees on the boat and informative. The trip back not so much. The employees were efficient but didn't speak and one of them was really irritated I asked him to take a family picture.
The ferry was great - when it showed up. We were told we could get on a return ferry after an overnight camping trip as early as 9:15 the next day - but there was no ferry, or if there was, it came well before 9:15. We had to wait for a 9:45 ferry on the dock with a 10-month-old.
I would have given a full five stars, but we left our beach umbrella on a ferry and it was never returned.
Everyone was friendly and the captains were great. One suggestion would be to have two lines at the ticket office- 1 for those who pairs over the phone and one for walk ups. There several people in line confused if they should be waiting in line. Once that is corrected then the process would be flawless. Thanks again!
We got very wet on the way back
The ride to the island and back was 5 star, but the driver on the island that took us to the point was driving like a maniac. Driving 35mph on a path on the sand bouncing 6 inches off the wooden seat was not fun at all. Got the truck stuck and bounced some of my stuff out of the back of truck and didn't go back to get
