Wonderful tour with awesome guide Long! - I had a great time on this tour! Long is a wonderful guide, the food was amazing and I really enjoyed the night market. Long texted me when he arrived at the hotel, reviewed the itinerary, and then we headed out. He explained a lot about the food, described the ingredients and at one stop showed me how to roll everything up into the rice paper. I bought a few souvenirs at the night market, and he bargained for me to get the best prices. As a solo traveler it was wonderful to have a guide so that I could make the best use of my time in Hanoi. It was really interesting talking with Long about living in Hanoi and family life in Vietnam and the US. On the way back to the hotel I wanted to pick up a couple of things and even though the tour had officially ended he helped me find what I needed.

Simply amazing!!! - Omg!!! Vietnam is so beautiful and if not more the people of Vietnam are equally amazing! Most times you book a tour guide and get a person doing his / her job! But when you have a tour guide here expect making friends. I contacted Daphny for a tour and she treated me like a friend. Although I was traveling solo I never felt alone because she kept checking on me all through. Lots of love for Daphny and Vietnam xx

Noisy, dirty, crowded - Very noisy, very crowded. The market is divided by a long driveway into two parts where rabid moped riders ride. We came specifically for fruit to take home, wandered the streets of the market for an hour and never found it. Just a slice or just a little bit and one kind of fruit sold. Lots of cafes, bars and street food. All the people are going to hang out at Knight Market this weekend.

Don’t bother signing up for the night market portion of the tour - The tour guide herself was wonderful, unfortunately we did not get what we paid for. I realize now that the Crossing Vietnam did not have enough interest for the food tour plus the night market ($30) so the tour agency put us with another couple who just paid for the food tour ($23.) Instead of telling us oh well we can only offer you the food tour and refunded the difference, the agency collected the extra money and just did not provide the complete tour. We should have realized this when the guide and the other couple looked very confused when we talked about visiting the night market. In addition, the couple had no interest in the night market. We were also torn, as the buses stop running at 9:30pm and had we been jerks about insisting on the night market, the guide would have had to taken a Grab which I was afraid may have eaten up her tip. We had a wonderful guide with excellent English skills. It is not her fault that her Crossing Vietnam is not honest in its dealings. It must be difficult for Viator to make sure that its subcontractors live up to the descriptions of the tours.

Knickknacks - Hanoi nightmarket was like a city street in summer Sweden. Plastic, smoking snack bars, knickknacks, children playing, howling mopeds and trolling guests. I don’t know what I expected but you have to like shopping and crowds to appreciate this. Nothing for yours truly though:)
