Hoa Lo Prison - Built by the French in Hanoi between 1886 and 1901, during the period when Vietnam was part of French Indochina. The French referred to the prison as “Maison Centrale,” originally used for political prisoners by the French colonists in Indochina, and later by North Vietnam for United States prisoners of war during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1973.
