• Chua Tran Quoc - The first stop is Tran Quoc Pagoda, the oldest pagoda in the city, rich in history. Nestled in the middle of West Lake, this sacred site is a must-visit for cultural enthusiasts in Vietnam’s capital.

With a history spanning 1,500 years, Tran Quoc Pagoda is Hanoi’s oldest. It was constructed in 541 during the Early Ly Dynasty and was initially named Khai Quoc Pagoda. Originally located near the Red River, it was moved to Yen Phu dyke in the Kim Nguu mound area in 1615 after a dyke collapse. The pagoda was renamed Tran Quoc during King Le Hy Tong’s reign (1681 - 1705), with hopes it would help repel natural disasters and bring peace. The name “Tran Quoc” remains today. During the Tran Dynasty, it was considered the capital of Buddhism and is now an iconic symbol of Hanoi.

• Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum - The next stop is Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Ba Dinh Square, one of Hanoi’s most visited attractions. It is the final resting place of Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam’s most revered leader, affectionately known as ‘Uncle Ho’. His body is preserved in a glass case here, despite his wishes.

• Hoa Lo Prison - Just a few minutes from the Hilton Hanoi Opera Hotel, Hoa Lo Prison, also known as “Hanoi Hilton” and “Maison Centrale”, is a historical site in Hanoi’s French Quarter. Originally built by French colonists in 1896 to detain and torture Vietnamese revolutionaries, it became one of Indochina’s largest and most brutal prison complexes. Later, it housed US prisoners of war (POWs), who dubbed it the “Hanoi Hilton“. In the 1990s, most of the prison was demolished, but a section remains as a museum, making it a top Hanoi attraction.

• Hanoi Train Street - Hanoi Train Street was once a famous tourist spot in the capital. This narrow, winding street is hidden among Hanoi’s back streets, lined with tall, narrow houses. The train passes through the backyards of these homes a few times daily. We will enjoy a cup of coffee while waiting for the train to pass. Hanoi Train Street is a unique and fascinating attraction in the heart of Vietnam’s bustling capital. It’s a narrow residential street where life unfolds just inches from the railway tracks. What makes it truly special is that several times a day, a massive train rumbles through the narrow passage, mere feet from houses and cafes.

• Old Quarter - After visiting Train Street, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Hanoi City. You will bid farewell to our guide and driver. End of tour!
