Old City Gate - The tour guide will pick up guests by car at their hotel between 7:30-8:00 am, and transport them to Lang Son. The journey begins with a drive towards the Chinese border, lasting about 3 hours, before pausing at Chi Lang Pass. This 20-km-long gorge is formed by a narrow valley between two mountains and holds significant historical importance in Vietnam. It has been the site of numerous victories against Chinese invasions dating back to 981 AD, earning it the reputation of Vietnam’s strongest citadel and bastion. Visitors will have approximately an hour to explore the area around the Quy Mon Quan Gate, known as “The Gate of Monsters,” named for the many invading forces that passed through the pass only to be repelled by resilient Vietnamese defenders.
Dong Hoi - After enjoying lunch at a local restaurant in Dong Dang, the journey continues into the pass, with stops at Mother’s Temple and Dong Khe. Dong Khe is a notable historical site where The Battle of Dong Khe occurred during the First Indochina War. This was the first battle of the Indochina Wars, taking place in September and October 1950, and resulted in a decisive victory for the Viet Minh. In the evening, guests will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in a local homestay owned and operated by a Nung family.
Cao Bang – Ban Gioc Waterfall (B, L, D)
Ban Gioc Waterfall - Detian Falls - After breakfast at the homestay, guests will depart for Trung Khanh, located on the border with China. Here, there is an opportunity to meet and interact with the local Nung people in the village of Phuoc Sen, known for its traditional blacksmithing. The farming tools crafted here are essential to the lifestyle, as seen in the surrounding rice paddies and fields. Among these stunning landscapes lies the breathtaking Ban Gioc Waterfall, spanning over 300 meters and shared between Vietnam and China. Visitors will have time to soak in the incredible atmosphere around the falls, offering a perfect chance for fantastic photography.
Nguom Ngao Cave - After visiting the falls, the next stop is Nguom Ngao Cave, a different but equally impressive natural wonder. The cave extends for 2,144 meters underground and is filled with remarkable stalactites and stalagmites. Guests will then return to Cao Bang town and travel down the “snake pass” to Ba Be Lake, where they will stay overnight in a homestay built in traditional Tay style and owned by a Tay family. Here, guests can relax and enjoy a delicious, authentic home-cooked meal.
Ba Be Lake – Ha Noi (B, L)
Da Nang - After breakfast, the final day of the tour begins with a boat ride on the lake. Guests can choose to relax and enjoy the views or take a refreshing swim in the cool waters. The scenery includes stunning karst formations covered with wild vegetation and rich wildlife. The boat will continue along the Nang River, allowing exploration of the caves of Puong Grotto, where visitors can admire the stalactites and stalagmites formed by river erosion and observe the large bat colony residing there. As the tour concludes, guests will be driven approximately 230 kilometers back to Hanoi, with a stop at a tea plantation nestled among rolling hills. Upon arrival in Hanoi, it is time to bid farewell, having created lifelong memories and connections.
