Amazing tours - My experience with Hotu Matu’a Tours was truly remarkable, with accessible values and a service that meets and exceeds expectations. The guides stand out for their closeness, knowledge and enthusiasm, authentically conveying the history and culture of Rapa Nui. Overall, it was an enriching and well-organized experience, ideal to get to know the island in depth and enjoy each tour with confidence and learning.

A nice encounter with Rapa Nui culture - An excellent option to tour Rapa Nui, as the tour covers the most important places of the island in an orderly and efficient way. The explanations were very understandable and provided a good historical and cultural context. The guide of the first day (full) stood out for his kindness and professionalism, generating a close atmosphere throughout the tour. They were punctual and with good vehicles to move. The only drawback was the visit to the caverns, where the lack of lanterns made the experience more difficult, they should be carried are necessary and reduce risks since we had to light up with cell phones and it was difficult to assert, there were also no helmets. That really wasn't good. Despite this, it is a highly recommended tour to know and understand the island.

Tour review - Economical and very complete option to know the island. The guides are native, explain clearly and entertainingly, and make the experience much closer. I learned a lot about Rapanui history and culture as we toured amazing places. Without a doubt, a very good option to know Rapa Nui.

It covers all of the main... - The tour was well organised and covered all of the main sites that you are likely to want to see while here. Our guide was informative and also answered our questions about life on the island today, so we felt we learnt a lot. It is worth being aware that there is no lunch stop on the second day (which finished around 3pm) and that you must buy your National Park ticket separately.

This is a 2 day tour with... - This is a 2 day tour with different guides on each day. The guide on the first day knows the history and culture of the island very well. However she did not gather everyone together before her narrative. So those who walked close to her would hear what she said while other slower passengers missed out. Many times she would began talking while others are way behind. This is not very professional. Also, the first day the pick up was delayed for an hour. Only explanation was from the tour operator that they had some minor issues. The tour guide never explain nor apologize for the delay. The guide on the 2nd day was much better. She waited for everyone before her narrative. At the end of the tour, she offered options to drop us off back to our hotel or near a restaurant. As well the driver on the 2nd day would help us get in and out of the van, the driver on the first day never did that. I would give a 3 star for the first day and 5 star for the 2nd day. I recommend this tour but you have a different experience based on who your guide is.

2-day Trip Advisor booked tour vs. ? - It’s hard to say it was exactly as expected, and as anticipated: wonderful. It essentially was; this is a recommendation to book, as well as to improve. Each day’s guide was brilliant, in their individual ways. Seriously. Both dealt with bi-lingual ‘guidance’ for clients on each day (English & Spanish). Not to be rude, though individual language guided tours feel more intimate, even in larger groups (5-12). Hello. Put 10-12 English speakers together; put 10-12 Spanish speakers together; instead of 5-10 of each/either mixed; a smaller homogenous language group will equate to better tips to guide for same package price. Same issue for having a driver. That’s exactly why you need a different individual as the driver. Let the guide: GUIDE; let the driver: drive, park, move & be prepared for your prepaid clients. There is plenty of local travel on island roads. It’s a journey: keep it intimate for teaching. Money will come. Drivers, remember whose team you are on. Enjoy!

Beautiful island - The two day tour is the right one to see "everything", although this "everything" is not equally exciting. There are maybe 3 sites that are really good, the rest is... well, you need to see this in order to have a picture of the pre-western culture. This particular tour was a very good value for money. The guides were reasonable, although the south-island tour did not manage to cover all the program, the guide was in hurry to finish. The pick-up was 45 minutes late (the island time), and the pick-up times in the brochure do not seem right. In general, the company did not communicate to the customers particularly well. Before Rapa Nui I was in San Pedro de Atacama, and in San Pedro the organizational matters were managed very well. When I arrived at Tupa Hotel to pay for the tours, the saff-member was neither knowledgeable nor interested.

I wish I knew I could take same tour for much cheaper - As other reviewers noted, those are not two full days of excursions. The second day is only until lunch time. Also, what nobody tells you is that all the tours can be easily booked on the island. There are plenty of travel agencies, all offer the same 3-4 tours and they cost not more than $40, I regret paying $210 for this tour booked online. And as other people also noticed, the guide may provide unverifiable information. My guide claimed that the statues weight about 100 tons...
