Fascinating, in-depth home tour of the Muirhead Farmhouse, a Frank Lloyd Wright Usonian home constructed from 1851 - 1853. Of particular interest was the history of the design and construction of the Farmhouse, including the Muihead family's (orignal owners) interactions with architect Frank Lloyd Wright (FLW) from designs, engineering, materials used, dates and construction costs/architecture fees. The explanation of the "work arounds" the Muirhead family employed to make their home more liveable were esppecially interesting. The tour continued with it's use as a Bed & Breakfast from the early 2000s to 2014, with in-depth explanations of the renovations/re-construction of the bed and bath section of the home, including such details as Cypress wood paneling, the famous FLW red floor tiles and other features. The tour guide answered every question asked, some with personal anecdotes, making the tour both informative and quite entertaining. The tour really helps fans of FLW's architecture understand the beauty of the materials chosen, the challenges some of FLW's designs presented both then and now, and the renovation challenges of a FLW house today. This tour was highly immersive and very enjoyable. I would highly recommend this tour to any FLW architecture fans.

I was greeted by the actual owner of this FLW house. He lives in the house with his family and he gives tours. It was amazing to hear from the first hand about all issues this house has but also see how it works for the family for 3 generations! Very nice house and unusual location on the farm. You can't see it from the road. You have to get on the private property to see this house and admire it.

As I said when we were there, it is so nice of you to open the house up for tours. You explained all the changes that have been done over the years & were wonderful about answering every question. With the amount of work that must be required to accommodate visitors, I felt guilty that there were only 2 of us there that day. Thank you once again.
