Hakone is encircled by towering mountains. Hiking one of these mountains is a common activity, but most visitors end up focusing on their footing so as not to trip or veer off the path. Alternatively, the tour I offer allows you to walk in largely level areas, enabling you to truly take in the surrounding natural beauty of Hakone, supplemented by guided explanations. It’s worth noting that Hakone, being part of a national park, has restricted areas aimed at preserving the local flora and fauna. Items like compact binoculars will be occasionally used during the tour for better views of birds or distant vistas. Along the way, you’ll encounter wild flowers, insects, and birds, some unique to Hakone or Japan. With some luck, we might even see wild mammals like deer, wild boars, and raccoon dogs. Hakone continuously amazes me. Let’s explore and simply enjoy what nature has to offer in Hakone together!
