Arusha – Bush Flight to Serengeti (Northern Serengeti – Wildebeest Migration)
Serengeti National Park - Begin your day with a morning flight to the Serengeti. Upon arrival, meet your Safari Guide and head to Northern Serengeti to witness the Wildebeest river crossing migration. This awe-inspiring event is unforgettable, especially for first-time viewers. As you embark on the game drive, you’ll understand why the name translates to “endless plains” in the local language. The park spans 6,900 sq. miles (18,000 sq. km), with vast plains stretching to the horizon, challenging your sense of distance. Depending on the migration’s location, you may drive to observe the Great Migration, where up to 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras, and various antelopes migrate. It’s also a prime spot for spotting big cats and large predators like lions, cheetahs, leopards, and hyenas, with many famous river crossing scenes filmed here.
Central Serengeti
Serengeti National Park - Enjoy breakfast at the Camp, followed by a morning game drive towards central Serengeti National Park to explore the wildlife-rich Serenora Valley, located at the heart of the Serengeti. The Valley is renowned for its resident wildlife, including wildebeest, lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, monkeys, baboons, hippos, rhinos, antelopes, and numerous bird species. Spend a full day on a game drive around Central Serengeti, then return to the Camp for dinner and an overnight stay.
Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Conservation Area - After breakfast at the Camp, take a packed lunch and drive to Ngorongoro Crater, a must-see destination that defies description. Departing from your lodge, descend into what was once the fiery core of a massive volcano. Today, this Natural Wonder offers a serene environment where wildebeests, Coke’s hartebeests, Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelles, and common zebras graze peacefully, undisturbed by the ever-present lions and cheetahs. The black rhinos here are notably less concerned about predators. Birdlife in the crater varies with the seasons, but expect to see grey-crowned cranes, lappet-faced vultures, black-bellied and Kori bustards, Fischer’s lovebird, and northern anteater-chat, among others. Enjoy lunch at a designated picnic site in the crater, then drive back to Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.
Lake Manyara National Park & Mto wa Mbu Cultural Tour
Lake Manyara National Park - After an early breakfast, drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a game drive. Your first sight will be large troops of baboons. The park is named after the Euphorbia tirucalli plant, known as ‘Emanyara’ in the local Maasai language. Yellow fever trees dot the grassy lake shores, and the Rift Valley wall is a striking feature throughout. The park entrance is set in a unique environment: a groundwater forest offering a refreshing change from the savannah-dominated parks. The lush green vegetation, tree-climbing lions, soda lake with thousands of pink flamingos, large water birds, baboon troops, and the Rift Valley escarpment make this safari unforgettable.
Mto wa Mbu - After a rewarding game drive, enjoy a traditional Tanzanian cooking lesson in the village. After lunch, embark on a walking tour of Mto wa Mbu village with a local guide. This area is renowned for its tropical fruit cultivation, including numerous banana farms. Visit a local wood carving studio to see intricate carvings crafted from local woods like ebony and mahogany, explore a food market, local pub, rice field, and more. Later, return to your Lodge.
Karatu – Tarangire NP – Arusha
Tarangire National Park - After breakfast at the Hotel, depart with a packed lunch for a one-and-a-half-hour drive through the Maasai steppe to Tarangire National Park. Upon entering the park, you’ll be greeted by majestic baobabs rising from the acacia parklands, creating a stunning backdrop for the large herds of African elephants. Other mammals sharing this habitat include lions, leopards, cheetahs, wild dogs, black-backed jackals, Kirk’s dik-dik, dwarf and banded mongoose, impalas, Beisa oryx, Steinboks, and African hares. Expect to see buffalos, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, and waterbucks as well. Birdwatchers may spot the Maasai ostrich, white-headed vulture, African scops owls, and the endemic ashy starling. Enjoy lunch in the park, then drive back to Arusha or the Airport.
