Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara National Park - The day begins with a delicious breakfast and a briefing with the tour guide. From Arusha, the journey proceeds to Lake Manyara National Park. The park spans 330 sq. km, with 70% covered by the lake. Its diverse ecosystem includes groundwater forests, acacia woodlands, and open grasslands along the lake shore, supporting a rich variety of wildlife, including the Big Five - lion, elephant, leopard, rhino, and buffalo. The park is renowned for its elusive tree-climbing lions that reside in the woodland between the lake and the Rift Valley. It is also a paradise for bird enthusiasts, hosting over 400 bird species.
Manyara to Serengeti
Serengeti National Park - The Serengeti is home to an astonishing 1.6 million animals recorded moving through the park. A game drive is conducted until 1 pm, followed by a lunch break. After lunch, there is time for a brief rest (perhaps a quick nap), before heading back out on the plains to search for more big game. The trail of the migrating wildebeest is followed throughout the afternoon, then it’s back to the campsite for dinner and an overnight stay at Katikati Tented Lodge.
Serengeti Central Areas
Serengeti National Park - The day begins with the delightful sounds of birds in the African savanna. Once ready, guests are served an African breakfast. Following breakfast, a full-day game drive in the renowned Serengeti commences. Around 12:30 to 1:00 pm, there is a break for lunch. After lunch, there is an hour of rest, then the game viewing continues, following the movement of the migrants in the southwest of the park. Approximately 1.3 million wildebeest, 250,000 gazelles, and 200,000 zebras have been recorded sharing the short grass and water, which are vital food sources for the millions of animals in the Serengeti.
Ngorongoro Conservation Area to Karatu
Ngorongoro Crater - After breakfast, a packed lunch is prepared, and the journey back to the crater begins. A detour through a traditional Maasai village offers an opportunity to meet the locals, observe traditional dancing, and experience life on the African plains. From there, the descent to the crater floor begins in search of more big game. The Ngorongoro Crater is abundant with Tanzanian wildlife. With the short rainy season over, animals emerge in large numbers to enjoy the fresh water and green grass. Packed lunches are enjoyed on the crater floor at one of several picnic sites near Lerai Forest or Hippo Pool. With luck, the rare Black Rhinoceros may be spotted. In the late afternoon, the journey ascends out of the crater and continues onward to Karatu.
Tarangire National Park - Arusha
Tarangire National Park - The best is saved for last. After breakfast, the final game drive through Tarangire National Park begins. African elephants – the world’s largest mammals – are commonly seen in this area. The park is also adorned with iconic Baobab trees, which can grow up to 30 meters tall. After a full day of exploring Tarangire, the journey returns to Arusha later in the afternoon.
