• Sigiriya The Ancient Rock Fortress - DAY 2 SIGIRIYA
  Start your day early to avoid crowds and visit the Sigiriya rock fortress, a massive rock standing 200 meters high, overlooking the village. Your guide will show you the various parts of the site, including the cave with the Demoiselles frescoes, the gardens, and the ruins of Kasyapa Palace at the top. This site is renowned for the megalomaniac king who built his residence in the 10th century. As a UNESCO site, it is the most visited location in Sri Lanka.

  Ascend the 5th-century AD rock fortress, Sigiriya, where King Kasyapa once ruled. Enter through the lion’s paws, fitting for its name, ‘the Lion Rock.’ Marvel at the beautiful, unfading murals that have made Sigiriya famous. Climb the steep staircase to view the terraced gardens and functioning cisterns. Walk through the tunnels leading to the palace and experience the past.

• Minneriya Safari - Evening Jeep Safari of Minneriya National Park
  Minneriya National Park, located between Habarana and Polonnaruwa, spans 8,890 hectares and is ideal for observing elephants and leopards. The park’s vegetation includes mixed evergreen and scrub areas. A notable feature is the 3rd-century Minneriya Tank within the park. During the dry season, the tank becomes a prime spot for wildlife observation. Minneriya National Park is home to 24 mammal species, 160 bird species, 75 butterfly species, 9 amphibian species, 26 fish species, and 25 reptile species.

  Visit a tea factory and plantation to see how the world-famous “Ceylon Tea” is produced. In 1824, a tea plant was brought to Ceylon by the British from China and planted in the Royal Botanical Gardens in Peradeniya for non-commercial purposes. James Taylor, a British citizen, introduced commercial tea plantations in Sri Lanka (Ceylon). He arrived in Sri Lanka in 1852 and settled in Loolekandura estate in Kandy.   Begin the hike to Adam’s Peak early in the morning at 2 am. The season starts in December, with January to March being particularly busy for climbing. Other months see less traffic, and many stalls along the path are closed during the “low” season, so bringing food and water is essential. Many people attempt the ascent in the early hours to witness the sunrise, while others climb in the afternoon to see the sunset. In either case, torches are necessary for nighttime visibility, even with a full moon. Traveling in groups is always recommended.
  This solitary mountain, with its distinctive pyramid shape, rises impressively to a height of 2,243 meters, offering an unrestricted panoramic view from the peak of mist-covered mountain peaks, the distant ocean, and rivers that appear as silver streaks stretching into eternity.
