Sigiriya is an ancient rock fortress and palace built atop a 200-meter (660 ft) tall granite rock column. Known as the “Eighth Wonder of the World” by some locals, it combines natural beauty, engineering brilliance, and rich historical and cultural significance.

Highlights of the Visit:
The Lion’s Gate & Stairway:

Halfway up, you’ll reach the Lion’s Gate, featuring two giant lion paws carved into the rock. This was once a massive lion-shaped gateway.

From here, you climb a spiral staircase to the summit.

Frescoes:

Midway, you’ll find a sheltered rock gallery of ancient frescoes, believed to be celestial maidens or “apsaras” painted over 1,500 years ago.

They’re remarkably preserved and full of color and elegance.

The Mirror Wall:
