Surrounding Sigiriya, there are three National Parks and one Eco Park. Elephants are visible throughout most of the month. Kaudulla National Park hosts the largest Elephant Gathering in Asia. In addition to elephants, Kaudulla National Park is home to 23 species of mammals, including Sambar Deer, Sri Lankan Axis Deer, Chevrotain, Wild Boar, Leopard, and Sloth Bear. However, leopards and sloth bears are rarely seen.

The park is also visited by 160 species of birds, including large waterfowl such as the Spot-billed Pelican and Lesser Adjutant. The Asian Spoonbill, Grey-headed Fish Eagle, Black-headed Ibis, Painted Stork, and Openbill Stork are commonly observed. Peacocks, Eagles, and Giant Eagles, native to Sri Lanka, frequently soar over the park. Visitors can enjoy an exceptional tour experience in Kaudulla.
