Halong Bay - We had a great trip with Le cruise in Halong Bay. We received great service from thang and his colligue and met great people from different parts of the world.

Highly recommended! - We booked our cruise at Le Journey Elegance and certainly do not regret it! The check-in went smoothly (a little later than expected), we were warmly welcomed, the food was very tasty, the room was fantastic, the kayaking was memorable,... Only downside I found the exaggerated prices of the drinks on the cruise. These were disproportionate to elsewhere in Vietnam. Finally, a special thank you because my girlfriend and I were so pampered by the staff because we were just engaged. So sweet of all the staff of Le Journey Elegance! In short, highly recommended!

Amazing trip with Le Journey Cruise! - Kong was amazing! I had a really wonderful time with them and every part of the trip was magical. Not only did I get to see some beautiful views, I learned a lot about the history and culture. All the crew members were so friendly and welcoming, they really made the trip even better. Definitely recommend taking this trip with them!!

Ok but not fantastic (2 nights stay in elegance suite) - The good things: - the room which was nice and big (it was the honeymoon elegance suite) - the food was ok and very nicely presented - the staff was very nice and quite professionnal - the site: Halong bay is a really impressive place - the entertainment at night: we had a good time with music and even Karaoke. But this depends much on the clients. We were quite lucky - Though you had to pay for water, there was free hot and cold drinkable water at the reception - a balcony for each room - A small swimming pool, with limited Jacuzzi functions at the front of the boat, great place to watch the beautiful site - a minibar in the room The bad things: - Though Halong Bay is amazing, it is a pity that the water is so filthy, but it is not Cruise responsibility - The food was ok at lunch, the breakfast was beyond standards, and at dinner food was very beautifully presented but the quality wasn't necessarily there (for example they presented an oyster but the meat inside was a mussel). Anyway it was decent enough but more local food would be appreciated - The hot water which was missing in bathroom most of the time, so no possibility to use the jacuzzi in our room - The balcony for the elegance suite which was a bit small - The water in the swimming pool was not looking clean - The excursions are quite poor and disappointing: too much kayak (in you stay 1 night it is ONLY kayak, once in the afternoon and once the morning after), and avoid going to the Tra Bau area, it has no interest, and it is dirty. Avoid taking the risk to swim - the communication: it was not perfect, we misunderstood the limited information provided to us and missed all excursions planned during the second (full) day for the 2 nights stay. Unfortunately these are the most interesting ones. So we felt very frustrated. We received a small but appreciated gift as a compensation - Room service: we had to ask 5 times to get the room made - the drinks are extremely expensive especially when you consider the quantities served which are very small. This is a bit of a scam. Wine is also very expensive: for example a bottle of spanish red wine which cost 6 USD in a shop (in Spain) is charged 50 USD. Moreover the selection proposed is of poor quality. Overall, as conclusion we would recommend to take a full day excursion on the first day (where you will be able to visit the good places) while staying in a hotel nearby and for the second day take the one night cruise at 12:00 am so to have the experience of being staying, relaxing and sleeping in the boat, but shifting the early breakfast and Tra Bau area which is a waste of time.

Hotel with a view - Don't really expect a cruise. You will lie in a bay with 30 other large ships, from where you will be taken in a small boat to platforms from where you can swim or canoe in the plastic soup of Vietnam. On board many people from India who think they are all king and plunder the buffet

Incredible staff but a dated old boat - We booked this trip for our honeymoon and spent several months planning to ensure it was as special and smooth as possible. 24 hours before our cruise we received a text to say that our original cruise had to be cancelled due to a “leaking sink”, but not to worry as they had rebooked us on another boat and upgraded us to a senior suite free of charge. Quite frustrating but what can you do 24 hours before. The reviews looked ok so we decided to roll with it and hope for the best….. We were collected in Hanoi and were first on the coach at 7.30, after collecting other guests from other hotels we set off on the 2.5 hour journey. Half way through there is a stop for a toilet and refreshment break. You are taken to a small shop/cafe that all of the other tours also descend on, with the shops selling the normal tourist stuff with heavily inflated prices - it is chaos with people everywhere and filthy toilets. Once we finally arrived at the port we were told to wait for the boarding announcement. The port is also packed with people waiting to board other boats, very chaotic with no aircon and limited seating. Our boarding was called and we had to board a smaller transfer boat to get to the cruise ship, this had no aircon either and took around 40 minutes. We boarded the boat at 1.45! It took us roughly 6 hours to finally get on to the boat. At this point we were tired, very agitated and dripping with sweat (it was 38 degree’s that day), we headed to our room which was a good size with a small balcony, however everything was quite dated and showed a lot of wear and tear. The taps in the bath were loose and literally came away in your hand, marks on the floors and walls, just generally tired. The food was average with some of the meat being questionable, the drinks are expensive which we were warned before we boarded, a beer is around 4 USD and a cocktail 8 USD (a beer in Hanoi is a quarter of this). For us the cruise ship isn’t anywhere close to 5* and despite the staff being amazing, they can only do so much. Our room was advertised at £560 and quite frankly I wouldn’t have paid half of that. Incredible location and lovely people, however it’s nothing like the pictures

Not a 5 star trip - We actually booked with Amanda Cruises and without explanation were moved to this boat when we arrived in Halong. The treadmill stands alone on the deck (no other equipment or weights as the photo shows) but it worked. The jacuzzi was only half full, the water didn't reach the jets, and was not heated. The food was average at best. The service was slow and inefficient. Some of these things might have mattered less if the weather had been better, but we were stuck on the boat with nothing to do.

Disappointing for a 5 star rating - The trap of wanting to do too well... Excess has never been good. Positive: room + squid fishing Negative: - insufficient and missing hot water - military rhythm by proposing too many activities that are recalled by a ppal at the microphone too loud and stressful (write the schedule and let the travelers manage their timing is enough) - an elegant table service, but interrupted every 5 minutes by a waiter who wants to know if it goes well or announce the next dish to come - a well presented meal but not tastefully equivalent to a 5 star (in my opinion) - problem with a room: first an extra bed missing, then the bed was added but was broken. We went to the reception who informed us that they were coming to replace him. We waited more than an hour in the room missing one of the activities. - activity: visit of caves.... frankly useless. Nothing sublime. - massage in the rooms and not in a dedicated room. This forces the second traveler to leave the room - The junk only moves to get to the middle of a place among other junks. - Very late karaoke activity for travelers who wish to rest early "especially those with rooms on the side wall". As a lover of Ha Long Bay, I was disappointed for this cruise which fortunately lasted only 24 hours.
