Chichen-Itza and the cenote visit were wonderful and outweighed everything else on the trip. The stop in Vallodolid was a waste of time, just 15 minutes of walking around a square, while the stop at Ebtun was just awful. It is in no way an opportunity to see how Mayans live or to experience the culture unless Mayans today do nothing but sell junk. If the day trip had gone straight to Chichen-Itza and the cenote it would have been fine. As it was, it lasted 12 hours with one stop to eat and that is much too long. The food at the restaurant was neither plentiful nor well cooked with the single exception of the fried fish. The tour guide spoke some English but could by no means be described as bilingual. We know enough Spanish to have understood much of what he was saying (and he repeated himself in Spanish a lot) while the English version was limited and uninformative.
