Comfortable, safe, and highly enjoyable tour experience - I had a very positive experience overall with this tour. The round-trip transportation was very comfortable—the minibus was clean and well-equipped. They even adjusted the pickup time to ensure we could fully enjoy the destination while avoiding heavy traffic, which I really appreciated. The boat transportation was also excellent. It felt very safe and well-organized, with all the necessary safety measures in place, including life jackets, clear instructions to keep hands inside, and both a captain and an assistant on board. The villages have changed significantly since my last visit in 2019. They are now much more attractive and better prepared for tourism. Our local guide, David, was always looking out for our safety and took us to shops that felt secure and well-suited for visitors. Fernando, our coordinator, did a great job making sure everything followed the itinerary smoothly. He was very kind and attentive throughout the trip. He left us in the care of Víctor Hugo, our driver, who was also very friendly and shared interesting details about the route, including the areas between Parramos and Panajachel. Compared to my experience in 2019, I was really impressed with the improvements made to enhance tourism in the region. One highlight was Restaurante Tierra, which was one of the best places we visited. David took us there directly, and it definitely lived up to his recommendation in terms of quality and service. That said, Restaurante Cayuco was a bit of a disappointment. Service was slow, especially for breakfast, and the place felt disorganized. Several groups arrived at the same time, and the staff seemed overwhelmed and distracted. Overall, despite that minor setback, the experience was very enjoyable and well-coordinated. I would definitely recommend this tour to others.

A beautiful lake with special villages - Our tour guide was Nicolas, the driver was Roca, who also drove us safely back to GUA during the night which was not an easy drive through the mountains. The tour was more about the village culture than the scenic lake itself, which is indeed very special and need preservation.

Beautiful tour of Atitlan Lake - Our tour to Atitlan lake was great! Our driver Anibal was always ahead of schedule. We liked the fact he was always on time and he really took care of us. He coordinated with the tour guide and everyone else to make sure we were well taken care of. He was a very safe driver too. Our tour guide was Justo. Justo was really good and patience. He is a world of knowledge. We were picked up at 6 AM at our hotel. We drove for a while and we stopped somewhere en route to the lake to get breakfast. Breakfast was delicious including freshly made corn tortillas. Then we continued our drive to Panajachel where we boarded a boat to take us to San Juan La Laguna first. I recommend you wear the vest while in the boat even if you are a good swimmer, for safety reasons. Also bring a jacket and hat. The speed of the boat will make you jump on your seat! We spent time in San Juan taking photos and looking around the town, including the church. Then we went back to catch the boat to Santiago La Laguna. We visited the church, the market and we watched a demonstration of how the ladies make the beautiful colorful fabrics for the traditional clothing. We went back to Panajachel where Anibal was waiting for us to drive us back to Antigua. It was a very beautiful day!

Don’t book this tour if you want to have fun - Would not recommend if you want any free time in these towns. The tour was incredibly regimented with required stops that were not detailed out ahead of time. While the honey making tour and textile tour guiders were lovely, it provided us with little to no time to actually see the towns for ourselves. At San Pedro, perhaps one of the cooler stops, we simply walked from on dock to the other for 10 minutes. We were not allowed to stop for a meal, photos or even to use the atm. The last stop on the tour we were guided to a fancier lunch spot even though lunch was not included. Our guide was not thrilled when we asked to not eat there and was visibly upset when we wanted to have free time verses another guided walking tour. It seemed like they did everything but let us look at the actual lake. Oh and the boat you take? You can’t experience the lake because it’s both covered and has tiny windows. Would not recommend this tour and I regret booking it. Next time I’ll just use water taxis to get from town to town or hire a private boat.
