We’ve crafted an exceptional journey for you to explore the historical tapestry of Guatemala in a unique way. This trip interweaves visits to a Mayan archaeological site, a colonial town, and Guatemala’s present-day capital.
Before the Spanish conquerors arrived, Guatemala was a mosaic of kingdoms of distinct ethnicities. In 1524, these invaders first stepped on Guatemalan soil, more specifically in the Kaqchiquel City of Iximché, where they established their inaugural Spanish capital. Subsequently, they relocated to Ciudad Vieja, establishing their second capital. However, a devastating natural disaster in 1541 prompted them to relocate yet again to what is currently known as Antigua Guatemala. After an earthquake hit in 1773, the Spanish resolved to move their capital for the fourth time to its present-day location.
