Guatemala City - The day begins with a pick-up from your hotel in Guatemala City. The journey heads north to one of Guatemala’s lushest and most nature-rich areas. Departing early in the morning ensures ample daylight for all planned activities.

El Rancho - A comfort stop is scheduled for breakfast, restroom use, and purchasing essentials like snacks and water.

Ramtzul Resort - Located in the highlands of Guatemala, specifically in the Baja Verapaz department, Ram Tzul is a natural reserve. In Mayan, “Ram Tzul” translates to the Heart and Spirit of the Mountain. The indigenous community believes that, akin to Mother Nature, the “Heart and Spirit of the Mountain” is a life source. Visitors will encounter rivers, natural pools, stunning waterfalls, and a bamboo forest.

This nature hike requires a moderate level of physical fitness, and hiking boots are recommended.

Grutas del Rey Marcos - After returning to the bus, a 90-minute drive leads to the King Marcos Caves. This mystical site offers a unique connection with nature. A guided tour of the caves is included.

Depending on the season, the grotto may have three water levels: low, medium, and high. Boots, helmets, and expert guides are provided at all times.

Discover Semuc Champey and Water Caves

Semuc Champey - This natural wonder is like a slice of heaven on earth. Seeing it is believing. Declared a natural monument in 2005, the 500-meter-long stone bridge creates multiple turquoise natural pools. Enjoy the refreshing waters amidst the humid subtropical climate. The Q´eqchi´ Mayan people named it “Semuc Champey,” meaning “Where the river hides,” as the Cahabón River flows beneath the natural bridge and pools. This day of the tour promises discovery and relaxation, so bring your swimsuit and camera to capture this extraordinary paradise!

The journey to Semuc Champey takes 2.5 hours, followed by breakfast and the start of this captivating tour.

Semuc Champey - Explore nature-filled trails, ascend to the lookout for breathtaking views of the pools and lush vegetation, and enjoy a refreshing swim in the natural pools for a relaxing and fun-filled day.

Later, the guide will lead you to the Kanba Caves, accessible with a candle. The caves offer a blend of mysticism and adventure. Remember to bring water shoes or sandals with good traction to prevent accidents on the often slippery ground.

Coban - Return to the hotel in Coban for a restful night.

El Quetzal Sanctuary + Chilasco Waterfall + Return to Guatemala City

Ranchitos del Quetzal - The final day begins at 5:00 am to maximize the chances of spotting El Quetzal. Early morning is the best time for sightings. Avoid wearing perfume or bright clothing to increase the likelihood of seeing it.

After birdwatching, enjoy a delicious breakfast.

This day is dedicated to exploring the cloud forest of Baja Verapaz, home to Guatemala’s national bird, the Quetzal. Engage in birdwatching and experience a close encounter with the forest. Walk along natural paths and observe various plants, birds, amphibians, and insects. With luck, El Quetzal may make an appearance.
