The first stop is the Museum of the Tomb of the Nanyue King from the Western Han Period. Visitors will explore the original tomb, discovered in 1983 during hotel construction, which highlights Guangzhou’s rich history dating back 2,200 years. The museum features an exhibition hall showcasing various relics unearthed from the tomb and the city.
- Chen Clan Ancestral Hall-Folk Craft Museum - Next, guests will take the metro to the Academy of Chen Clan, also known as The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall. Built in 1894 during the Qing Dynasty by 72 Chen clans for their juniors’ accommodation and exam preparation, this academic temple is a masterpiece of traditional Canton architecture. It is renowned for its intricate decorations, including wood, stone, and brick carvings, as well as pottery, plaster, and iron engravings, adorning the halls’ interiors and exteriors.
- Shamian Island - Afterwards, the tour continues via metro to Shamian Island, where guests can stroll through an area characterized by European architectural styles, a former British and French colony from 100 years ago. Visitors will also enjoy views of the White Swan Pool along the Pearl River from Shamian Island’s waterfront. Please note: The Museum of the Mausoleum of the Nanyue King is closed on Mondays, and the Chen Clan Academy is closed on Tuesdays. On these days, a visit to YongQingFang will be arranged instead. The Nanyue King Tomb has a daily visitor limit. While entry to the tomb site cannot be guaranteed, it can still be viewed from the upper level.
